Burning through a medium-sized-country's worth of natural resources and GHG emissions in pursuit of a strong AI that still can't tell the difference between reality and hallucination. And then they put that AI in control of real-world decision making so long as it's only poor people who are fucked over by it.
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
And dammit she's only 6 days from retirement!!!
Have you played with Cinders yet? If you haven't, she's a masterclass of bad luck. I have never seen someone die randomly so often. I am not convinced that if placed next to a building it wouldn't immediately fall on her. Then get swarmed by giant bugs.
Rightie and Lefty are all the backup I need 💪

It would make sense that Lefty was a bit alt-Right
The default for toast was 4 minutes and after just two it was close to burning
But also it was so utterly perfectly cooked. Like it was cooked by lasers. Not a single uneven bit.
It was honestly kinda offputting 😵💫
Oh you're not mistaken, these are available for single images already. One of the earliest usable demos of an image generator was one from nVidia where you got this MS paint like interface and could draw labels like "grass", "mountain", "sky", "water" and then it would take your MS paint doodle and turn it into a photorealistic render with close to the composition you provided. There was img2img for stable diffusion. Lots of others.
This style of image "prompt" tends to be less mature and less publicized, despite being more useful and infinitely more likely to be integrated into a creative process. I think because they still take some creativity and artistic skill to use, which doesn't seem to fit with how like, OpenAI seems to want to sell their products.
Anyway, I've not seen something similar for video yet but I'm sure it's coming. I'm just not really interested at all until I see it.
the what school
They don’t sound accredited
He’s canceled, Tumin. There will be no more Chanus options in the polls.
However 90 minutes wasn't nearly enough for our team's presentation to leadership, rip
boss: "did it take [other colleague] only 90 minutes to do this?"
admin/leadership guy: "yes"
boss: "how???"
alg: "well, he....gave less of a technical talk. He had, um...concise bullet points. It was just...less detailed. But you know...if your goal was to give a technical talk it was very good..."
boss: "I just want you guys to know what science you are paying for!"
alg: "yes, of course...haha look at me, navigating political discussions...you can have 90 more minutes next week"
everyone's terrified to tell my boss she goes way too hard on the science lol
tbh I am also afraid of telling her this so I get it!
No. Der waffle mouse joined for a match and kept killing me though!
noooo don't do that just move on pls
Given how costly AI is, at least for the quality stuff, you think they’re going to shell out $Texas for the facilities required to run and maintain a product that will likely either be obsolete or need to be upgraded just to be competitive every year or hell every quarter?
I grok the concern about Studio Fuckery and such, but a lot of it smacks of doomposting and future tripping
I see it being used as a supportive tool rather than a complete and total replacement
It doesn’t mean people won’t try to make it the latter but they’re going to have that blow up in their face.
apparently only to me
about time tbh
it's the right thing to do
I’m at home doing nothing but refreshing the forums while I recover so I’m always around
They will as long as they can convince VCs that they're close to the singularity (any day now).
