I remember when I skipped West 2019 for a nice vacation elsewhere thinking "I'll be back in 2020" - fast forward and I haven't been to a PAX since East 2020...
Maybe Seattle 2024 is the right time, at this 20 year anniversary.
Hell ya! I went to it last year with my friend but it busy and looked like everyone was already in the middle of games (we arrived a little late) so we ended up leaving. But I loved seeing the good turnout.
Like clockwork, I'll be there. It was great to see last year return more to the PAXes of years past. The new convention center spaces are also massive and awesome. All this is great because the crew I roll with keeps getting bigger and bigger. I think we'll be over a dozen this year - can't wait!
Thats a big crew! Thats awesome! There used to be 3 of us that would go annually in my group. Then the other two stopped going when covid happened. I convinced my other BFF to join me last year and he thought it was the best con he had ever been to. He's my new annual PAX friend.
I stopped going right before the pandemic but 2024 felt like the right year to jump back in. I'm feeling the hype, bummed Triwizard Drinking Tournament pub crawl appears to be gone though.
I may not be as active as some of the rest you, but thought I'd throw in that I'll be attending too for my 5th time. Last time was in 21, can't wait to see the re-model and looking forward to a much better PAX.
My first PAX was 2011, I haven't been since 2017, but I'm coming back this year and bringing my husband for his first ever PAX trip. I can't wait, honestly, it's going to be so much fun!

I've not been back since online in 2020.
21, my SO got into a accident a few days before I was going to leave, so that took priority.
22, I was between jobs, so no funds.
23, contractor, so didn't have the PTO
This year, if things go as planned...
I'm kind of sad that the homewood is gone, but the building is being repurposed for good at least (or so I read)?

I always wanted to stay in the Homewood, seemed like the consistent go-to spot for a lot of the forum community that was around back in the earlier years, but it was always one of the first hotels to sell out.
Anyway I'm glad to be coming back this year; I missed last year, which finally broke my streak of attending every West since 2006. Plus I'm semi-local and still haven't been in the new convention center yet.
I hope to see you there Zerz, if you do make it. It's been forever!
I think I have said "the next pax, for sure" for the last 4 of them and I keep not making it. This one I had been so sure about and am now again on the fence due to a variety of factors ... x.x
yeah, especially after having done so many in a row. it used to be a hard fixed thing on my calendar but covid changed the meaning of fixed calendar items for me forever I think

JK Rowling's brain being eaten by black mold sealed the TWDT's fate but also Barca closed during COVID and the Unicorn had started to fuck us by holding trivia during the crawl. I miss it a lot but its time had come. I think the pokecrawl does something for west these days but I haven't been to PAX in like four or five years so idk.
Also sup everyone. See y'all tomorrow! I'm swinging in for a day just for ole times sake cause hey, 20th anniversary!

That's one of the main things I'm here for, 20th anniversary.
Missed the pax birthday party panel yesterday, and I'm kinda bummed about it as they gave everyone a pax prime lanyard. That would be a huge prized item to have for me.
This is easily the most I've enjoyed a PAX since 2019, I'd say.
I would agree with that! I think that there are still some things missing from the old feel, and some of that is still the lack of the AAA big hype, but a lot of the other parts of the show are still there and going strong. Love the indie game scene, and the big time stuff that did show up (including Stalker 2 and talking to the devs from Ukraine who came for that!).
