I'm guessing Yuta turns on Danielson at the ppv for celebrating for so long while he was on the mat in pain.

Oh, good, so I'm not the only one who was thinking about this.

Frankly, I was ready to turn on Bryan after that display. He came off looking like a bit of an asshole out there.

My only problem is that it seemed wildly out of character for Danielson to ignore Yuta.

Which if he had ignored a laid out Yuta to keep fighting Mox I'd have been fine with it, but the way it happened they're going to have Yuta turn on Danielson and be a heel, when he's completely in the right on this. That was a dick move on Danielson's part.

A Philly friend just got done seeing the Phillies blow it and I feel bad now he's following that up by seeing Bryan retire, Switchblade Jay White losing again again again, Jericho win the ROH title, and surprise debut Shane McMahon

(the Shane part I'll love but I accept I'll be one of three people happy about it and I won't be seeing it live anyway)

  • MagellMagell Detroit Machine Guns Fort MyersRegistered User regular
Jay White might win with Swerve returning, but that does feel too soon for him to come back.

I just think Swerve's gonna be back to tell MVP no and then get beat up again by Shelton and Lashley

I think before that he might show up in the crowd and distract Hangman enough for him to lose. It's the only way that booking Hangman vs White makes sense.

Eddie Guerrero would have been 57 today.

One of the biggest what ifs in wrestling is what would have happened had he not died. So much butterfly effect.

I was at WM 25 for the first Taker vs. Shawn match and that's still my 2nd favorite live show behind the El Paso Smackdown where Eddie got a hero's welcome.

Just an amazing talent that meant so much to many of us..

There's a good chance he's the reason RoH was able to attract an audience in the very beginning and become the force that changed what professional wrestling is in America now. He even fulfilled his dates on the indies after WWE re-signed him because that's the kind of guy he was.

All the indie guys talked about how great he was to work with and friendly he was backstage which is always nice to hear as well as him being one of the great workers of all time.

And just like that, everything that's happened with her lately makes perfect sense, and I can completely buy into it.

I mean, apparently she cut a promo or something on Rampage to explain it outside of this, too, but they had me here.

Yeah, I can't believe that AEW's solution for their lacking women's division is "just send blonde ladies on excursion to Stardom" but I also can't believe it didn't occur to anybody sooner.

That's weird. I was browsing around ShopAEW to see if they had any shirts worth owning yet (they don't), but they're advertising a Danhausen merch box for the next couple weeks. I was under the impression he'd burned that bridge sometime around when Punk left.

Bryan Danielson "But I don't want to be World Champion. I want to put everyone over"

Tony "Too bad, you're winning at Wembley."

Bryan Danielson "Okay, but I'm going to lose the belt in my home state PPV when my former friends literally kill me in the ring, ending my full time career, ripping out the hearts of everyone around me"

That ending being so bleak makes it hard to accept Danielson's done and he's not getting revenge.

Wonder when it's really going to hit me that the best wrestler ever is done as a full time wrestler?

Oh Bryan will absolutely be back. I never thought he wouldn’t be.

Pretty downer ending for a ppv but I feel like it worked. If they did this kind of thing a lot it would maybe be frustrating, but they don’t and I think this was earned. I’m looking forward to seeing where things go.

    Pretty good show.

I was surprised it wasn't a bloody match, but Washington has rules against that.

Mox scratching then biting Danielson's back was very good.

Yuta's busaiku knee was very good after the match.

i don't really feel the ending was 100% earned, because i have no idea what the actual conflict was and the fake murdering thing is kinda well fake feeling. i get what they are going for and i think at least it is a good hard reset for a lot of storylines but without having any real comprehension as to why mox was so insulted by the danielson title run and retirement was a little hollow, in my opinion. i feel putting that payoff further down the line is unsatisfying and considering the propensity for angles to be dropped, like the statlander heel turn and the Undisputed Kingdom eh.

lots of great matches though, i even liked mox/danielson but the post match angle was ehh.

They've been pretty clear that this just ends Bryan's "full time" career, whatever extent that means.

I do think this pays off well because AEW has made a point of putting hometown people over more often than not (somewhat countering WWE's obsession with hometown losses that used to be REAL BAD) so that Bryan losing in his hometown is really meaningful. A lot of us, I'm sure, assumed there was no way they'd have Bryan lose defending the World Title on PPV in Washington, so it was fairly shocking when he lost, cleanly, and then got basically MDK'd afterwards.

Earning this ending is going to depend on how well they use this angle going forward.

If they cement Yuta as a top heel and Darby and Orange as main event guys it's worth it and works.

Caught up on the show via tde gifs as I decided it didn't interest me enough to buy it, really surprised to hear Danielson lost. Like I knew this weird heel push Mox is on would be kinda dead if he didn't but I still didn't think they were going to do it.

Yeah, the main takeaway I’m choosing to focus on is it wasn’t an accident the camera kept showing, and outright ended the show with the final shot of, OC and Darby

I think those two are your next two world champs. Question is more which is the one that beats Mox next. Wouldn’t be shocked if it’s Darby, but I want OC holding it longest when (not if) he finally wins it
