🖥️️🎮- Malware & Thank Goodness You're Here! out today!
I've played the demo via playtesting! It's immensely good! The game as a whole is immensely good! If you like tactic games and witty humor, this is a good game for you!
First my planet has a Neolithic Revoloution, leading to farming everywhere. This leads into an actual Revoloution as the peasents rise up to depose the Pirate Queen, seeking Equality ofr All. (Which, you know, fair, you go get it peasants!).
...Which then leads to horrible, horrible disaster because having sucesfuly killed off the Pirate Queen, they elect the Inventor to take over, and the Inventor has ideas. oh, so many ideas. So many beautiful ideas, whispered to him from the dark beyond.

Talking during a Q&A on the official Game Awards Twitch channel (he organizes and hosts the end-of-year celebration in addition to SGF), Keighley gave a sneak peek at what the summer showcase will entail and, perhaps more interesting, what it won’t. “There will be, definitely, new announcements,” Keighley assured, “but the show is largely focused on, I think, existing games that have new updates for fans.”
Keighley took managing expectations one step further, revealing specific games that will definitely not be at SGF. That list includes Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (the remake of MGS 3), Kingdom Hearts 4, The Wolf Among Us 2, and Ken Levine’s Judas.
🚀 From the @Gunpoint
and @HeatSig
devs
🧙♀️Try the Navy Seer and Freelance Storm Witch
🚦 Defenestrate a Traffic Warlock
🪄 Plus! A little something extra just for the demo...
RTs much appreciated!
I hope whoever came up with Navy Seer took a celebratory shot after.

AFAIK the New York studio used to be big and was the lead on Just Cause 4, no idea what this means for Contraband since that still hasn't shown up since being announced like 3 years ago
At this point I'm kind of over Silksong until it actually releases. Hollow Knight was great but there's been a ton of good entries into the Soulslike steam tag since then as well. Maybe not too many 2D ones but stuff like Nine Sols, while maybe not my bag, and Nu Princes of Persia have a clear vision in mind and go for it.
I got back into Wildermyth after the Omenroad update and the notice that the studio's now going to just like stop working because they're done with the project and not sure they feel like starting a new game which seems healthy.
Anyway I'm surprised at how well this new roguelike-ish mode works! I still haven't tried to story-mode version of it, but the just-combat stuff works really well! I forgot how good the tactics layer of this game is, even when it's just 50 fights in a row. I judge all tactics things against Into The Breach, and I think this doesn't quite reach that level of perfect but it has a lot more fun customization and working with the random stuff that gets thrown your way.
Anyway everyone who doesn't have Wildermyth should grab the game and DLC immediately because it's truly one of the greats.
I just started it up again as well. I've tried a couple times but bounced off for some reason. I think my issue was needing some game play specific tutorials. I found a bunch online that seemed like they were made for people who have never played X-com. I needed something that talked more about the overworld, character aging, and all the specific stuff. If I had just put in the time, I'd probably have figured it out, but some other game usually came along and sucked me away.
This time I powered through and I'm starting to understand the map, crafting, equipment, characters, and such a lot better now that I finished a chapter. I'm really enjoying the art and combat. The writing seems a little overly flowery (reminds me of Tycho/Jerry style), but I'm still enjoying it.
One thing that's neat is that the writing is pretty distinctive depending on the campaign, in addition to the changing enemies and layouts and all that. There are also some different event-strings that are written by different people but can turn up in any game.
But yeah this is a real gem, I'm glad you've finally gotten further into it! I'm nearing the end of my first run of Omenroad and it's been a blast just speeding through a bunch of character advancement stuff and seeing a bunch of later-game stuff from the campaigns I haven't completed yet.
The ability shrines are pretty nice for seeing advanced hero builds. I like how all the themes and even some of the pets have their own power upgrades. Get a pet cat and it's basically your own personal Indignance no matter what class you are.
I have finished The Exit 8 and it was cute and I liked it BUT
I swear to fucking god the fact that the posters all had like times/dates/prices and those as far as I can tell never changed makes me so frustrated! Every loop I was like wait was it always the 19th? Was it always 3000 yen? Argh! Also I did have several times where I couldn't tell if a graphical glitch was an anomaly or just a graphics glitch which was annoying
Anyway now I'm excited for that train follow-up.
We're all in this together

Let’s pull the capybara out of the bag…
We’re announcing ✨A BRAND NEW GAME✨ at @dayofthedevs
! Make sure to tune in on Friday, June 7th!
In Wildermyth, is it worth doing a side campaign or legacy campaign before continuing on the story campaigns? Or are they mostly post story content?

I'd generally consider them more post story content. They're just less designed/written versions of a campaign, essentially.
Some of the story campaigns will be legacy campaigns also, for the record. The one time I might suggest doing a side campaign instead of the next story is if you want to generate a wider selection of characters available for legacy.

Elden Ring: I got a Noble's Slender Sword and it is supposed to be good and rare. Should I use it? Pros: It has the squared off ash which seems to stagger people and bosses like whoa! Also doesn't have a back scabbard, which is a me thing but I don't like them look so awkward. Cons: Not as long as my claymore. Can't use the holy ash on it due to the squared off but can use stuff like fire resin?
One of the funniest things I did for a legacy character choice was pick a skeleton man
So my heroine was totally unbothered that when her parent reentered her life, they were just and animate skeleton fella. Just yup, that's my parent, they're a genderless animate skeleton with a creepy dagger and pyromaniac tendencies

Absolute number-one protip to avoid frustration for both games is that the graphics on the ads will change, but the text will not.
I beat Platform 8 the other day. It didn't take me as long to beat as The Exit 8, which I think I chalk up to the game not resetting when you walk through a car without properly noting an anomaly. It makes up for this by having more anomalies that can give you a game over if you don't figure out how to deal with them properly, which TBH I am not a big fan of. I think I preferred the more subtle dread of the first game where the bits that made you feel like you were in actual physical danger were few and far between.
I don't know if it's a superior experience to The Exit 8, but it definitely feels like they are trying to iterate on the formula a bit based on feedback. I am still definitely interested in another release by the developer.
The special ending you get for finding all the anomalies is an incredible mic drop.

The Noble's Slender Sword is a very good weapon, but that reputation comes mostly from blowing the rest of the Straight Sword category out of the water when it comes to reach and flexibility. It's the longest of the Straight Swords and all of it's infusions are at least "good."
You'll be able to put a Holy (or fire or poison or lightning, etc) ash on it down the line, but you're still a ways off from that. For now, you have a really solid sidearm that you can buff with elemental damage. I'd play with it and see if you like the faster attacks/style that the sword gives you. If you don't, the Claymore is still a really solid weapon.
Decided to run through Star Wars Squadrons to play something recent on my new PC.
Crashed loading in. Great.
Little Googling I find out that it's a known bug that setting resolution scaling to 200% automatically crashes single player and they never bothered to fix it. Yeah that sounds about right, good job EA. Set to 150%, away we go.
You can tell this was meant to be a live service game. Dead multiplayer, multiple multiplayer progression tracks/currencies, and a thoroughly unsatisfying single player campaign. Done in about 6 hours, just long enough for you to maybe start to kinda begin to give a shit about the characters before it ends, made worse because your imperial character and your rebel character share the campaign rather than two separate player campaigns. Which is a shame because a number of them really felt like interesting character ideas whose potentials ultimately went unfulfilled.
X-Wing/TIE Fighter this is not. Graphics cranked up are pretty gorgeous though.

My philosophy with best weapon (and best armor) in a soulslike
The Lance continues to amuse me with how goofy it is in ER. On foot I can use it like a regular spear, meaning shield up and pokey poke with a monster of a charged heavy, but even regular pokes can quickly break an enemy's stance to put them in the vulnerable state, and bosses are not immune to this.
But the magic is when I twohand it and I've got one hand holding the grip with the other supporting the body as I wave it around like I'm spraying a champagne bottle. And the charged heavy in that stance has me jumping up to slam the tip into the ground for the most ineffective maneuver possible, though woe betide any unfortunate soul who actually gets hit by it, as I presumably wiggle very hard on top to get it free again.
I'd like to put the Impaling Thrust ash on it to put the kibosh to shields, but that's apparently a Keen (DEX) ash for some reason? Kick ash is an option but I gotta get in real close to use it and usually enemies that turtle with shields suddenly stop turtling when I'm in their face. So instead I'll opt for the War Shout since it makes it Heavy scaling and my intent is STR/FAI eventually, mostly just STR for now, all the good incantations I've gotten so far require leveling not just FAI but also ARC.
I gotta start putting some points into Vigor though, as ironically appropriate as it is to run headlong into beefy enemies with the running heavy attack like a suicidal freight train there's some very annoying bosses that every attempt I have to set them up to spawn again, like night bosses since dying to them revives you in the morning. Ones like Bell Bearing Hunter especially since while the Grace is close to the spawn it's still a matter of resting, pass time, back out, rest again to despawn the NPC in the house, buff up, and go in to start another round with Dork Vader.

I tend not to like slow speed weapons in these games, which most big ones are.
I tend not to like slow speed weapons in these games, which most big ones are.
Jump attack usually is the way to go with big heavy weapons to negate that speed issue, but Lance is surprisingly not slow at all when you use regular pokes. It's only the charged heavy attacks that wind up for a long period, but you can just save those for when a boss is getting back up from the critical you landed on them after breaking stance with light pokes.

You can change Impaling Thrust's scaling from Keen to Heavy once you get the Iron Whetblade. It's is Stormvale Castle.

Thanks. Researching online, it seems the higher your characters legacy level, the more skills they bring over. So I wasn't sure if it was worth doing a legacy random run to level a couple characters up to keep more of their skills.

The way legacy characters work is when you select one, you get to pick (at least) one skill that they previously had and start them out with that. A character with more legacy to them will get to pick more of their skills to bring over, but will in turn increase the starting difficulty of a campaign more.
So you certainly could try and get some legacy heroes leveled up a bit if you want to, but I don't know if there's any direct benefit necessarily beyond like, the legacy mechanics are cool and fun to play with, it's neat to watch the same person adventure through many stories. But I think you could get some of that same effect by doing some legacy campaigns after the authored ones, y'know?

I am enjoying how there are major systems in Elden Ring that I straight up do not know about or have ever dealt with despite having beaten the game because my guys was a wizard. What do all these numbers mean? Fuck if I know. I guess bigger number is better?!?
Almost every stat in Elden Ring does exactly what it says it does... until it kinda doesn't. The way soft caps work is a little wonky, but that mostly has to do with different types of scaling on seals and staves.
The real "why did you make it this way" stat is poise. Anything between 12 and 50 doesn't matter. Anything between 52 and 100 doesn't matter. 11, 51, and 101 are the only numbers that do anything. All attacks in the game are assigned a poise damage value, and in order to not get staggered by an attack of a certain value, you have to meet one of those thresholds (unless you're performing an attack with a block window or hyperarmor). Folks usually shoot for around 51 unless you're going for a big boy build.
EDIT: This is all PvE related. I don't know if PvP has different poise values to shoot for because I've never looked it up/cared to PvP much.
