Starting today, June 24th, there will be an average of 1 holiday celebrating national pride and/or founding moments. Today is "la Saint-Jean", named after the Catholic patron Saint of French Canadians, St John the Baptist. I'm having a lovely poutine for the occasion.
Next week, on July 1st, is Canada Day, which celebrates the day the British North America Act went into effect, unifying the colonies/provinces of Canada, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia into the Dominion of Canada. (Our leaders are not, to the best of my knowledge, shape-shifting aliens.)
3 days after that is American Independence Day, aka Fireworks Day. Good luck, y'all.
10 days after that is Bastille Day, celebrating the start of the French Revolution. This is when people started forcibly deposing their rich, out-of-touch, despotic decision-makers, and, with goodwill, cunning, and determination, one day we will be done with the lot.
4 weeks, 4 celebrations. What are your plans for the upcoming holidays?

Going to try to spend at least part of the day on continuing my decolonization learning and then maybe go to a friend's for a BBQ
