Wait, why are we godspeeding eclipse? Did someone really happen or just a current forum event joke I missed. If the latter, carry on.
I've been reading more lately, got out of my slump.
Made a drs appointment because I've just been losing weight? With no change in lifestyle. So that's fun and doesn't take up 98% of my brain with pure anxiety.
My cat is very warm and refuses to move off my leg so that I can go refill my coffee.

They haven't logged in since March, I didn't mean they perished
Here at work we have a weighted plastic mallet on each post to knock ice off the stairs in the wintertime. Today I decided since they weigh about as much as a sword (52oz/3.25lbs) that I could use them to practice swinging around to build up the same muscles (or at least similar, since they're not the same length the balance is different)
Turns out my arms and shoulders are super weak and tire easily lol
Also found out that I shouldn't swing things inside these posts because they're so tiny. Sitting in the center I can touch the walls to every side of me, and if I stand up I can easily touch the ceiling. I'd say it's a 5x5x8ft windowless booth? Spending 2 hours inside them at a time feels/is very isolating, especially when I leave one to go to another identical one for another two hours. Two years ago I read a research paper (A Realist Ethnography of Nuclear Security Officer Culture, by Douglas Evans (first research paper I've ever read and it was dry but it interested me since it was about my field of work)) where the author compared this part of our jobs as having similarities to solitary confinement in prison.
i'm getting snipped this morning and man i've just got some hella generalized anxiety about getting anything medical done
I took a picture of my shaved sack after the doc put the little bib and iodine on me and sent it to my wife in the waiting room. I still have that pic and will randomly send it to her when the mood strikes. It was very painless and easy for me. A slight pinch for the injections,a slight pinch for the cuts, and that was it. If you are sensitive to medical stuff you may want to close your eyes and plug your ears when they cauterize the tubes. I found it fascinating but it can be upsetting to some. My only real piece of advice is listen to the damn doctor! My wife basically waited on me hand and foot the first several days, which is what the doc said to do, and i had almost no pain or issues. I was back working on an assembly line 5 days later. If you do not have someone who can do that for you, do the absolute bare minimum of physical activity. Order delivery to eat, don't do any chores, only walk to the bathroom/living room/bedroom as little as possible, etc.
I cannot imagine sending a picture of my genitals to anyone, and am quite squeamish with regards to medical stuff
Thank you for the advice
We also have a very active very smart two year old in the house, and we're both wary of one of being functionally bed ridden for a week the last time we talked about it

i have a fake email job so having to sit around is unfortunately not prohibitive to work; fortunately i did the yard work this weekend

I just now drove my dad over to this small local bakery that opens real early to buy a bunch of bread because their bread is very good. Got a little thing that is like croissant style pastry with fruit in the middle. It was really good. Buttery and flaky and gooey.

Unfortunately there isn't really any way to tell for sure how quickly you will heal. Like i said i was able to work a very physical job in 5 days, and was up and about more or less normally after 3 or 4. My son was older though and little kids definitely complicate things.
@Kadith I got snipped two years ago and it's a very manageable procedure. They may offer you something to relax, an oral anti anxiety medication, take it if you like? It's a silly procedure, you get your balls shaved and a little blue sterile drape wrapped around. Then you get like, one pinch for the local one pinch for the procedure and you're done. All complications arise from people being too active too soon, so like Furlion said above, just follow your doctor's instructions. They'll give you this little jockstrap thing, throw a bag of frozen peas in there (get two bags of frozen peas) and alternate icing your junk. It's all so quite silly. Then lay back, play some videogames, watch movies, but don't exert yourself. Enjoy a few days of hedonistic relaxation.
If you participate in any recreational substances, do so, and just chill out.
Frankly, it's such a weight off of my shoulders (and by extension, my wife's) that I cannot be happier being snipped. If the procedure was more easily reversible I would have gotten snipped when I was 16 and then reversed when I decided to have kids.
I am in the business of saving lives.

Got to hit paving slabs with a big mallet today. Went to the artic recently. Don’t plan on leaving the country for the rest of the year. Been thinking a lot about incense today. Given over my volunteer job running the community garden to a good person. Dog got a hair cut. Have a little hay fever for the first time. Eating samosa.
Yeah what the fuck, I got jack shit after I got snipped, just some friendly advice and a pat on the back.
It's genuinely no big deal, I didn't even take it that easy except for the first day of sitting around with peas on my junk wondering if my balls were going to fall out (they didn't). You're nowhere near bed ridden for a week.
I got circumcised about 12 or 13 years ago, it was way worse than what y'all are describing for a vasectomy. Especially since they made me go pee immediately afterwards to make sure everything was working, and one of the stitches had come loose so when I tried to pee blood shot out of the bottom of my cock and I fainted.
It took weeks to heal and the pain was awful. It took even longer for the sensitivity to die off to a tolerable level. That year sucked complete ass
I got the snip last November. Other than me having a sympathetic response to the injection (light headed, near fainting, etc) but once that passed it was smooth sailing.
Recovery was a breeze. Sat on my duff and took pain pills for a few days (didn't really need them) and had very occasional tenderness for maybe a week or two after.
I just don't see myself having a week off, between the mountain of things I need to do at work and at home like regular stuff and the mountain of home improvement maintenance stuff that needs completed before fall.
I'm still going to talk with my partner and doctor, maybe I could line something up for the winter.

My doc mostly scheduled Fridays and his patients are back to work on Monday, no problem.

We have to run a dehumidifier constantly or ours accumulates enough moisture to be quite damp

It seems like just enough for a bath towel to soak up. I also bought a dehumidifier and turned it on as well.
Could have been worse. No need for the wet vac.

Haven't done a single push up in several years, kinda proud of it, didn't mean to brag or boast

If I were a mod I would change your forum name to gizmoduck as a gag
Not in the cusp of my 21 year forumversary!!!
You should be. I've been trying to get back into regular exercise for a while now, it's a pain in the ass.
Me too
I've been through a phases of it, the next workout is always the hardest

Idle musings on a slow morning at work

The shot of Novocain hurt but it was only for a second.
After that I couldn’t feel a thing. Doc showed me the little tube he cut putts we talked about Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits then I went home.
Mild soreness for a few days that was mostly alleviated by relaxing and putting frozen peas on my junk.
Here’s a tip! It’s easier if you leave the peas in the bag.

Oh in this case, that’s awesome!
12 years ago I could do 80 pushups at once
I can do 3? now

Doc just told me to wear snug undies, ice it, and lay down as much as possible. You got some bougie stuff

Good luck with your nuts!
I had a double testicular biopsy last year. Where they open you up and pretty much take scissors and schnikt off an edge of both.
Recovery for that was up there in the top 5 pains of my life.
