Getting around San Francisco

This week I'm applying for my student visa at the Spanish consulate in San Francisco. I'm staying with my uncle in Dublin, CA and he's going to get me to the consulate for my appointment, so I don't have any worries there. However, a friend of mine is working in San Fransisco for the summer and while I'm there we're going to try and get together for lunch or dinner this Friday or Saturday. She hasn't gotten her work schedule yet, so when we get together is dependent on that. I don't know exactly where we'll be getting together either, which is something I hope to figure out before I fly out on Wednesday. I was wondering what the public transportation system is like, and whether it's going to be possible for me to get from Dublin to San Francisco without major difficulties. I don't particularly want to impose on my uncle to drive me there. I realize this is very vague, but any advice is welcome.

Looks like you can catch BART in Dublin. That'd be your best bet for getting down there. You'd have to have her meet you at a station, or somewhere nearby, though.

I like to use the 511.org transit planner: http://transit.511.org/tripplanner/index.asp
It'll give you customized directions, like the BART website, only it can incorporate other public transportation methods as well.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
