Being a hobbyist is super difficult. There's tons of really cool options, and it's hard to stay focused on just one. But they're all pretty big time sucks, or expensive, or both. So it's very hard to stay up with more than one.

    I blame time.

What's funny is that real life Mike is just as much a sinner in this regard. He's always getting some new obsession and rolling with it for a while before going on to the new bath salts. Sometimes they manage to harness it for merch, like with the stickers. Other times its just him snapping together mechs on a stream.

I feel like this is the only sane response to someone trying to get you hooked on Halo: Flashpoint.

Oh man, the whole "this one is only a skirmish game" thing. Yeah, if none of us had any games yet, starting with a low model count game would be great! But when you're trying to convince me to buy into a whole new game which I know you'll drop in a month, and also essentially asking me to keep my thousands of points of 40k on the shelf while we do so, the "low barrier to entry" is a moot point. Heck, people in my club were using that as a selling point for Kill Team, despite us all owning big 40k armies already.

An indie ruleset that lets me play with the sizable collection I already have? Sold. Something new that I "only" have to buy ten models for? We could save even more cash if we just played the games we've already bought.

I know I have expressed....disinterest...in New Things that friends were trying to introduce me to when I haven't even had enough time to properly marinate in Current Thing. Like, I am sure that New Thing is very nice, but slow your roll at least a little. Especially when New Thing costs money and time.

If you're an experienced gourmet of your hobby endlessly sampling new dishes, please keep in mind your endless variety! is maybe not the goal for your friends. Some of us just want a bowl of chili that we can describe without it sounding like a witness report to arson.
Or an RPG where the main character actually wants to be there.

There is no aspect, no facet, no moment of life, that cannot be improved with pizza.
