Making the smart move means he would be thinking about the consequences of the not-smart move. Trump has never experienced any real consquences in his life, so why would he think about them?

I'm sure he is assuming that is he loses he will get a re-do of January 6th where either he wins and takes power, or he doesn't but still is allowed to walk free. I don't think that will happen, I think Biden will have him arrested the second he even looks like he's inciting violence.

The slink away isn't an option for him though: he's neck deep in criminal trials which have basically been put on hold to see if he loses the election. He's going to go down screaming for blood. I don't think anything big is going to happen because Biden's in the White House, but we're probably looking at a whole lot of stochastic crimes which hopefully get picked up real quick.

I think he's gonna publicly and loudly claim he actually won but not really do a lot besides that. Probably get the Republican party to pay to launch some frivolous lawsuits. Scream about how they stole the election at every press conference he has during his trials.

Good morning voters! Are we all so excited to sit in front of screens all day and night?!

My only hopes for the evening are that Georgia shows early promising signs of a big blue shift. I'm a cautious optimistic, not convinced, just realistic!

Very rainy this morning in Houston; should dry out by the afternoon but hopefully doesn’t depress turnout as the city is reliably blue (suburbs much less so though we will see how the white woman vote goes this time). Thankfully my wife and I already voted early.

Federal judges denied two states’ requests to bar the Justice Department (DOJ) from dispatching lawyers to monitor adherence to federal voting rights laws on Election Day.

Both Missouri and Texas asked federal courts to keep DOJ lawyers away from their polls. Missouri’s attorney general and secretary of state said any monitoring would “displace state election authorities,” and Texas’s attorney general contended that “Texas law alone determines who can monitor voting in Texas.”

In the first episode of The Leftovers, Kevin (the show lead and a cop) didn’t want an event to happen because he recognized that the trauma everyone had gone through was just bubbling under the surface and people are looking for a reason to explode.

America feels like that right now. We need to steer through this clear-eyed, and start healing after, hopefully under a Harris administration.

Ann Arbor: 76.5% voted early, we have 53 precincts, I was voter #80 at 9 AM. Need about 300 voters/precinct to top 2020 turnout in a relatively clean win for Biden. Ann Arbor being like 80/20 want to spike turnout here. @zagdrob said his local precinct had 159 so far. I imagine the campus precincts will be busiest, since students are slackers. We do have same day registration.

+1 for Democrats and our state supreme court justice nominees. And +1 to tell Ernesto Querijero and the rest of the incumbent school board to fuck the hell off.

    +1 for Harris in Ohio!

The fact that this race is even close, much less possibly favoring Harris, is just a massive failure for the GOP. We had our incumbent candidate crash and burn on TV and had to swap mid-race. That should have been a death sentence in any other election. If the GOP could have run a non-Trump centrist candidate, I think they would have won easily.

It's easy to blame this all on Trump being Trump, but you also have to realize that the GOP has gone so crazy that this is their preferred direction. They would rather be in a tight and maybe losing race and pushing a far right Christian Nationalist platform than easily win pushing a right-centrist platform. Trump made them go mask-off and now the mask won't go back on. They are broken.

On Sunday, this dude just barged into the polling place and refused to get in line when told to. When the workers attempted to get him to get in line, he punched one of them.

Yeah I just walked the dog and went past our local polling place - everyone outside campaigning was Harris / good guy supporters. As bum noted our neighbors (two houses down is running for Circuit Judge and his wife / baby were there) said they had really good turnout so far at 159.

Most of the people I've talked to have already voted absentee / early already so that many day-of is a good thing. Talked to four other people walking to go vote and all of them either said they were Harris voters, or looked like almost certain Harris voters.

Puppy got lots of scrinches and complements on how pretty he is so he's fan of democracy as well.

The 'nauseously optimistic' line went over well and the vibe seemed to be quite positive.

Good! With Missouri voting on a pro-abortion amendment, it's good to keep the ratfuckers from trying anything hinky to screw that vote.

The state GOP has been furiously throwing every lie they can muster against it, including some insane gibberish that Tucker Carlson apparently picked up on and repeated in a podcast. They've been intimidating voters with graphic posters at early voting locations, too. It's been an experience watching Missouri conservatives lose whatever sense they had trying to fight against this.

Yeah, this was at a place local to us where my 60yo aunt with MS volunteers. I'm just glad she didn't get caught up in the physical violence, but the guy who got punched was an elderly man trying to calm the aggressor down because he was mad he had to wait in line on a Sunday.

My IT office has spent the past several days making fun of Trump and Musk relentlessly. There’s one conspiracy theorist Libertarian who’s voting something whacky, a Tim Pool addict, and our boss is all on the Elon train (and gets heckled for it non-stop), but the rest of us are all vocally voting Harris. This is in UT, by the way, which makes it doubly funny.

The 'legalize sports gambling, we'll give money to your schools, pinky swear' thing is unhinged as well. They found a bunch of teachers from a single town willing to sell out their personal and professional integrity to shill for it and the commercials are off putting. All of them have so much makeup on it borders on uncanny valley and they never smile. I think that one will pass because people don't think long term consequences, it's just weird to watch.

If he loses he's going to do the exact same stupid shit as 2020: bitch about the thing being stolen, launch a million lawsuits and protest rallies and hope that he's able to concoct enough of a smokescreen of bullshit that the Supreme court winds up with this and hands him the presidency.

The horrifying part of all of this is that it might actually work since those rhymes-with-punts that make up 2/3rds of SCOTUS already made an incredibly dangerous ruling once this year in order to protect him and there's even odds they do it again.
