Anyone read this comic? To me, it was probably the best thing to come out of Crossgen when it was still around. Yeah, I read your Scion, Sigil, The First, and what-have-you. The one that came closest to Crux, IMO, was Sojourn.
Anyways, Crux featured beautiful artwork coupled with my favorite atmosphere: a post-apocalyptic world.
For those not in the know:
Crux was based around a group of Atlanteans, who came from the assumed city of Atlantis and escaped the "Ascension" to a higher plane. They were put in escape pods and sealed off for 100,000 years. Then, a man awakens a young woman, Capricia, who has the power to metamorph/shapeshift. He tells her to pick outfive other talented individuals from their respective schools of teaching. He then tells the group that an alien presence called the Negation has all but wiped out humanity, and that they are the only ones that can stop it.
And then the story went on...for about 33 comics. The ending was horrible, rushed, and stupid, because that was the time Crossgen filed bankruptcy. Also, the jump between artists decreased the comic's quality, especially in the last six issues(where an artist who apparently loves women with disproportionately huge breasts took over).
Anyways, I truly love the series and I recommend it to any comics fan who still remembers who the hell Crossgen is.

I think most got put off CG by it not being Marvel or DC and none of the books were "supers in capes beating each other up". It had multiple genres which were rarely used let alone good in American comics. I loved how all the books were interlinked, but did not in any way require you to read the other books to understand them.
Id have to agree about Crux and its rushed ending / poor art for last couple issues. It was still enjoyable despite the dip in quality for last few issues, but at least it had a pseudo ending as opposed to several other books that got left hanging with no ending in site. My personal favorites were Negation, Crux, The Path, Meridian and Sojourn, although I read several others they published as well.
I agree, there was a lot of different settings rarely used in comics, like Ruse or Route 666.
The only thing that kind of annoyed me with Crossgen was the whole sigil/"chosen one" thing tying all of the books together. It felt a little shoehorned in.
great
Would LOVE for Cgs later series like El Cazador and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang to make a come back.
