The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Well you can import Final Fantasy: Anniversary Edition from Japan, it includes an english language option.
If you live in the US, you can also import Tales of Eternia and Breath of Fire 3 from Europe. The European version of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops also has a bunch of stuff the US and Japanese versions didn't.
If you live in Europe, you'll be able to import Brave Story, Jeanne d'Arc and Dungeon Maker later this year.
And lastly, if you don't mind playing through non-translated Japanese games, you'll be able to import FFVII: Crisis Core later this year, as well as FF: Dissidia. Suikoden 1+2 and Monster Hunter 2 have also been released in Japan.

Really? I imported PO from the U.S, not long after it was released (since it was going to take months before it reached here), I had no idea they were actually going to add stuff to the European version.
Sadly, it appears that the CD WOW! site that used to have tales of eternia for $30USD and free shipping no longer carries it. Shame really.
Also, go here for some japanese/europe demos. They have a assrapingly hard DJ portable MAx 2 on on there somewhere
I used to recommend DVD Crave (an Australian web store) to people that wanted to import the game but they don't stock it anymore. I'd recommend GPStore (a NZ web store) but the NZ currency is pretty high at the moment.
You might just want to look around some UK stores, compare them to Aus/NZ stores and then decide whether you want to import it from one of them.
Btw, I posted a massive list of demos on the forums a few weeks ago. PSP Fanboys list is good when you want the latest ones but their backlog doesn't go back very far.
AJR: It's got new skins, new maps, new jobs and a boss battle mode.
If you're a Beatmania fanatic, DJ Max Portable 1 & 2 are pretty crazy.
I cannot stress enough how fucking fantastic DJ Max Portable 2 is. You have to like rhythm games, but if you do, DJMP2 is amazing.
If you don't know what Beatmania is, it's like Guitar Hero, but with using controller buttons instead -- either 4, 5, 6 or 8 at a time. It controls really well on the PSP (combos of D-pad, top face buttons and L/R), and it gets really hard really fast. Great electronic/rock/hip-hop tunes, scalable difficulty, a Guitar Hero Star Power-ish kind of system that rewards chains -- it even has Korean RPG qualities, so as you play the game you actually earn experience and gold, which encourages replay, and you can buy gear that boosts your life meter/gold and XP earned, etc.
It's $50 at Play-asia -- I haven't been able to find it for cheap, but you might be able to get the original (DJMP1) for cheaper. The sequel has a lot of perks, though, and what's cool is that you can actually play Link Disc mode, where you can pop in the DJMP1 disc and play the songs from 1 with the gameplay enhancements of 2.

Tales of...from Europe. You know the one. If you're in Europe, bonus.
If you mean Japan, then not really. Depends on how fluent you are.
If you like anime, Bleach 4 is a pretty capable fighter with reaaally pretty graphics and fun gameplay

I can't for the life of me remember what it was, though.

Yeah, that was probably it.

It's hard to find good videos of it (no replay saves), but here's one of my more favorite songs to play, Nano Risk. (Not my vid, although I can do pretty well on it, too.) And here's the 4-button mode.
