I have a few questions about these games that are there, i realize most people will call me a fool but i must ask less i feel even more dumb. First for like table top games such as 40k you have to bring your own guys or will you be able to rent or something them?
Second for PC games, i want to be sure that you don't have to bring your own shit and i want to know if there is any money you have to pay.
Third relates to the game in general i was wondering first how you register to play some of those games if anyone would want to be on a team with me for some of the games? i not sure how it works if for like counterstrike there are teams if like 1000 people sign up and from there it automatically makes like 200 teams of 5 randomly.
i would appretiate some help, also i was wondering if you had to pay for the tournements or no?

Last year you didn't have to bring your own PC's but there was an area that you could if you wanted to. Had to sign up for it though. There was also an area that had PC's from Lanwerx that anyone could play on. Didn't have to pay at all to use them.
For the tourneys, you'd register when you registered for PAX or when you get to PAX. Could make your own team or whatever. Tourneys are free as well.
Dunno about the table top games though.
And if anything changes for this year, you'll find that out whenever the new site launches. All of this was for last year, but I'm sure it'll be the same again.

Can we get the chemicals in. 'Cause anything's better than this.

Also a lot of people got sick from sharing in the computer room.
I don' know if they got sick from sharing computers.
I think I am still sick from hiding in the shady area's watching GI JOE spoofs. I kick the bug but it keeps coming back.
gotcha thanks for the help. Ya i dunno about me brining my own computer, i don't even like moving it from room to room much less taking it several thousand miles and at one point letting airport people handle it :O it prolly will end up in seattle as a microwave, with there track record of handling things.
Again thanks for the help i and i hope i can see all of you there if i can get shit together to go.
bah i hope i can find out some of this stuff i wouldn't mind playing warhammer 40k but i haven't had units for that in ages, also it might be fun to play d&d but that might take to much time to play.

For the Hobby/miniatures games like 40K, Iron Kingdoms, and most of the Clix things you need to bring your own, unless you find someone willing to lend out their own figures.
However there were a lot of games played like Settlers of Catan, Diceland, Kill Doctor Lucky and other boardgames where you could walk up and sit down as long as there was space to play. The Tabletop games area was a lot more 'friendly' in that folks who showed up without gaming materials of their own could sit in on a boardagem designed for 3-8 players a lot more easily than keeping the same number of people entertained for the same amount of time on consoles or computers.

No money to pay, aside from your membership which gets you in the door in the firast place. You could bring your own PC and while many said they would, the room was about half empty as people failed to follow through on their promise to bring their PC.

Depends on the tournament. Some folks sign up as an entire team, and are ready to practice as soon as they find out what the games are to be. Folks looking for a team could post here, or look for a pick-up group on the day. Should be better organised this year with most of the bugs shaken out in PAX 04.

Nope. Once youre in the door, everything is free. However, it's free to everyone else as well so expect congestion and lines (and olks not showing up as they forgot they signed up for 3 things all happening in the next hour, and decide that NOW is the perfect time to go out to dinner and a movie...

I'm not exactly what you would call a disinfectant-spraying germ freak, but I usually bring my own mouse if I'm planning to use a computer that is used by a lot of people I don't know for an extended period. Did you know that the average public mouse carries more germs than a toilet seat?
I still think we need a Duck Hunt tournament. Pair two players, have them play 5 rounds each in 2 Duck mode, preferably on different machines. Highest score wins. If you don't make it through 5 rounds, you're out. Tiebreakers are 1 round of 2 Duck. Lather, rinse & repeat until only 1 player remains.
NO UNGLUED! god, that drove me nuts, especially when little kids, around 5 and 6, decided that they would play. let me tell you, you can't win an uhuh-ahhuh fight with a 5 year old.
How about Super Smash Brothers, unless they already have that?, hmmmm, screw magic Razz, Hmm i really wish i wasn't drawing a blank for other games that would be sweet to have.
OOO i have an idea, it isn't really a game but how about having that crazy Japaniese (sp?) guy there that beat Mario 3 in like 10 minutes, i would love to see that shit in person. OR hell just any Japanies person playing any video game would be awesome cause of how good they are... Uh don't mind the stereotyping.

He didn't do that all in one go, he used savestates and pieced it together.

Damn, I was gonna suggest Unglued/Unhinged booster drafts, but Unglued boxes sell for around 400-500 bucks... Nevermind... Perhaps Unhinged only then? Unhinged Boxes go for around 80, a case of 6 Ive seen for $438, as opposed to 6 seperate boxes for $480+... Each box you could do one 8 person draft, charge 10 bucks each, which almost pays for the box(depending on shipping and/or tax) and leaves 12 packs over for prizes.
Alternativly, you could do it larger, 64 people split into 8 groups of 8 people. Winner of each group would move onto the Final 8. Final 8 could either be run one of the three ways...
A: Use their current drafted deck
B: redraft another 24 packs and play with just those
C: redraft another 24 packs and let them use any cards from the first draft and the redraft, giving them more to make a deck with.(I like this idea best, it would result in even more crazy deck possiblities and the final 8 could be pretty damned funny to watch)
6 boxes covers 9 drafts exactly, so you could buy a case for 438 dollars you could do that, and possibly buy a 7th single box for prizes(or have prizes be PAX prize points). The larger tournament gives a bigger incentive for the person running it(or charge 7 dollars each person to recoup the cost of 6 boxes, 8 dollars if you buy 7 to have packs as prizes) but you need more people to do it.
So, the question is, how many people would be interested? Maybe we need a seperate MTG thread... Id run it if I had more money and a little help setting up the brackets, but right now, Id certainly be willing to pay to play some Unhinged drafts, however theyre run.
but he still never died right... i mean he didn't just go and take the best times for everytime he went through the certain level... hmmmm there are still some other speed games that i don't think use save points... the half-life one for instance... maybe i dunon it is only 10 minutes long so it wouldn't be toooo hard to do it all in one round once you prefected the best way to go through ever level.... damn him and his save points
Greatest game evar. Also, Chez Geek/Goth/Greek is pretty fun to play with a bunch of geeks. And graizur, just out of curiousity, what are your symptoms? I've been sick ever since I came back from PAX too.
There will be a BYOC section that will be significantly larger than last years. It will also be more organized. The four people behind two local lan groups ( www.lanpartynw.com and www.bellinghamlan.com ), myself included, are all actively involved in setting it up, and things should go significantly better on that end.
Plans are still being ironed out on specifics, but I think it's okay to say that systems will, like last year, be available for public use.
Good to hear you guys are on the LAN end. I was disappointed with Lanwerx last year. The events seemed to be organized by the seat of their pants, game delays were rampant, and their Enemy Territory didn't even work.
Speaking of Enemy Territory, who have I got to frag to get that on the event list? It's still a more popular multiplayer than any of the Battlefield 1942 variants and is designed for objective-based team play.
I don't know how much control, if any, we'll have over the systems that will be available for "rent"....a lot of that still needs to be worked out. There won't likely be a tournament for Enemy Territory, but I'd personally like to try and work out a schedule with the "ready to play" systems to try and make sure that the servers are full.
Again, though, last year I wasn't involved at all with running any of this, but from my understanding Lanwerx kept full control over their own room.

Watching those with a bunch of guys was better than playing in the Counter-Strike tourneys.
Dungeons & Dragons v3.5 worldwide perpetual campaign.
I would probably play just one a day, and leave Hero Clix out.
Unglued?
I like the Unglued.
That would push me a little more in the direction of going to PAX this year (if there was multiplayer games going on, and casual).
Still not enough to get me to go yet, but it helps.
Unhinged. Even more craziness.
