Totally Radd!
everyone from PAX04
The Fine Print
Incubus
Game Over
Project X
Project X isn't a band though I don't think, but they have some great stuff.
While we're at it, we might as well pull out Dr. Awesome and Aphex Twin.
If your gonna start asking for bands like Incubus that dont really have anything to do with gaming, I might as well ask for Ween and Flogging Molly again just because they kick ass...

Incubus never did a four-part prog-rock orgasm on the Halo 2 soundtrack. No sir.
I think we should stick to the obviously nerdy bands, i.e. the ones who talk about nerdy things in their songs. "Boba the Fett" is the reason why we want MC Chris.
You may say that Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Radiohead have little to do with video games, but is that fundamentally correct? Isn't there some common ground between amazing achievements like Lateralus and Final Fantasy X?
I think what he is saying is that we have the potential to not only have the greatest convention, but we could also quite easily do the worlds coolest concert as well. But my point still stands. I think we should stick to those who have nerdage material in their Lyrics and are vaguely humorous.

What the hell does that mean?
He's trying to imply that he lost his sense of taste in the war.
a is like b because I like them both! See how they are related?
I enjoy both Incubus and Breaking Benjamin's contributions to the Halo 2 soundtrack (although I honestly thought the Incubus songs were tiring and repetative, and the BB song was...well, it was a modern rock song that just kind of got thrown on there)
However, providing a song for use in a game, or making a single track for a game, doesn't give the band itself some kind of worthwhile credibility. I don't mind the idea of bigger artists strutting their stuff at PAX, but the images of popular musicians, actors, whatever, trying to label themselves as 'gamers' to appeal to a subculture for sales purposes when they're not interested in or don't play games just won't go away.
Then again, if they really weren't interested, they'd mostly likely decline the opportunity to play at PAX. There's also monetary concerns as well, the bigger the name, the bigger the cost, unless you think these guys'll just show up and jam cause' we asked them too.

Yeah, if they do that, then PAX starts to turn into something like *shudder* G4
Now, what about Vin Deisel? He's a big D&D player. And there are a lot of football & basketball players who play more video games than most gamers because that's what they do in their free time.

They just don't openly admit to being 'gamers'.
I think this above statement has ao much more APPLICABLE TRUTH then all this bullshit about super-popular bands being at PAX.
Vin Diesel, although he is a drawer of crowds, should be invited to PAX because from the very begining of his career and publicity he has been identifying himself as geek.
Thing about vin is that he is both jock geek black white etc.
Vin shows that the lines that we use to define and devide eachother are just bullshit. But somep people built thier houses on those lines. Their identities are built on those definitions. And they hate it when you fuck with their investment.
A question to each person who reads this, do you understand what I am saying? (Pm me if you dont).
Truth is if I went to PAX and my FAVORITE well known musician was there I wouldn't be all that interested. Because for me that isn't what PAX is really about to me. To me it's about you. Meeting you. Meeting fellow PA fans and gamers from around the country and around the world. I mean if some one super pop comes then they should come like we do. Because they know about PAX from Penny-Arcade. Right?
Speaking of requests... though this isnt music related like most of this thread... Nintendo and/or Namco needs to sponsor for PAX05 and bring along some arcade cabinets of Mario Kart Arcade GP. I dont care if its in Japanese still, I want them at PAX05.

Also, fuck Weird Al. He hasn't been funny since UHF was in theatres. Now he's just annoying and passé.
Blasphemer.
So you didn't like Smells Like Nirvana or Amish Paradise at all? Sheesh
Well, this IS D we're talking about...
Weird Al still kicks ass.... Poodle Hat was a fucking great album damnit!
*properly chastised*
Seriously.
