Piercings!

So I got a lip ring yesterday. I'd been thinking about it for a while, and I was with a friend who said "Well let's just fucking do it already..." so I did.

It's on the side, my left, your right. I like it, everyone who's seen it seems to think it looks really good.

I've come to the conclusion that most piercing people (artists? Piercers?) are just guessing when it comes to upkeep, or speaking from personal experience I guess. My piercer said to wash the outside with a mixture of Bactine and Water, and clean around it with Spectro Gel, Washing the inside with Listerine and salty water. I said this to a friend of mine with the same piercing and she said "When I got mine they said never use Bactine or Spectro..." So what the hell, people? I guess the basic rule of thumb is, keep it clean, don't be stupid and let it get infected, easy enough.

I remember back in high school when everybody wanted to get their eyebrow pierced. Retarded then, still retarded now. You've gotta be able to pull off a piercing before you can even think about it.

Depends on the piercing and who's getting it.

Eyebrows, no, everybody looks like a douche with those.

Lip, maybe, depends on how you look.

Tongue, only if you're a woman and only if you can pull it off. Most women can't.

Pierced nipples on women, usually a safe bet if you've got breasts and absolutely have to have something pierced. On men, NO.

Belly button piercings on women are so overdone now it's not even worth mentioning. Snore.

Summary: At least 80% of the people (if not more) who get a piercing, shouldn't. But they're not all bad.

I like the look of some piercings, but I can't really think of any that would look good on me. I'll stick with tattoos.

I generally don't like how any piercings look on anyone other than girls' ears.

I think it's pretty silly to be judgmental about piercings.

Kinda wish I could have my eyebrow piercing back. I think it looked good.

My work is pretty strict about hair color and piercings and clothing and crap.

I've thought about a tattoo, but it'd have to be:

- A relatively simple design
- Only in black ink
- Meaningful

Nothing I have thought of so far has passed these qualifications.

if body mods were practical I'd be all over them.

For example, a guy designed a barbell with magnets on the ends for the bridge of his nose, and built frames for his glasses so they would clip to it rather than hanging on his ears.

or, like, a bluetooth headset/plug for your ear gauge. we've already managed to design small enough ones, so why not?

Once things like that come into existence I'll be all over body mods.

Oh man, I had to shave before going out last night, it was totally brutal.

a laybrea (or however you spell it [thats the one just under your mouth, right?]) would probably be the only sort of "decorative" piercing i'd get.
