I was thinking today about the differences in my use of my mobile internet versus a PC, and I noticed (not suprisingly) that I use it mostly for informational purposes, rather than entertainment, and occassionaly check message boards as well.
What about the rest of you who have some form of mobile internet? And those of ypu who don't what do you think you'd use it for?

I'm surrounded by mobile internet. I got it on my phone, my PSP, my DS, and soon to be on my iPhone.
I never use it. If I want the internet, I use it at home.
EDIT: THe only thing I've ever used mobile internet for is sports scores and ESPN updates on my phone.
Hey that's funny, I'm posting from my Treo as well. I use this sucker all the time at work to browse the forum or play mahjong. Much more than I thought I would.

Texting on my Treo is sexy. I don't have an internet plan for it.

Mostly E-mail, Wikipedia, and Google Reader, since data charges are still ludicrously high.
Also Opera Mini is the greatest piece of software ever.
I love the idea of a mobile Internet, but I don't really have any use for it. I had some projects and collaborative websites and shit going a couple years ago, and having mobile Internet capabilities would have been awesome for that time, but now that it's shit the bed I can't think of a reason to have it.
That said, if there was a Treo sitting in front of me, I know I'd love to fuck around with it.
I use the gmail application and opera. I use opera to access google reader mobile when I'm out and bored, and occasionally use wikipedia to look something up
actually, I do, from time to time. It's neat, but since I don't have a GPS for the phone, and tend to borrow one of my father's GPSes when I'm actually going somewhere that I might need directions, I rarely"need" to use it.

Windows Live Search is actually a better Mobile Map than Google Maps Mobile. Integrates into all the phones capabilities a bit better (GPS, Address Book, etc.)

Let's play Mario Kart or something...
T-mobile has had unlimited data for the sidekick at $20/mo for ages. Course, it's not fancy 3G or anything, but it's enough to look up a word when you have to or like to keep up with your e-mails.
Really though I wish we had cool phones and non-ridiculous plans. Every time I find an awesome phone or handheld it's almost always limited to asia or europe. And if not, then it's staggering amounts of money.

I pay $30/mo, and that includes 500 minutes, 500 texts (soon to be unlimited, I just need to call them with a promotion code), unlimited data, nights and weekends at 7pm, AND unlimited roaming on voice AND data.
data rates up here are so horrendous it doesnt make sense to do any real mobile surfing
I have a Blackberry and the rates my work pays are something like $100/mo for unlimited bytes. I really don't know if I'd be up for that kind of fee out of pocket.
I don't know if the Treo has a phenomenally better screen, but I know the forums are pretty much impossible to read on the Blackberry.
I use it all the time for reviews of products while in stores, or for looking up shit on wikipedia.
Helio is awesome if you're looking for mobile internet. Their plans are unlimited everything (including 3G, GPS and nights/weekends) and you just choose how many minutes you want. The cheapest plan is 65$ for 500 min and caps out at 145$ for unlimited minutes. The drift has a wep browser which works awesome on anything google related (reader, gmail, maps) and the ocean has an html browser. And it uses Sprint's network so almost anyone can get 3G.
I have an LG vx9900 (Verizon enV), I have unlimited messaging, unlimited internet, and 500 minutes with free nights and weekends and free Verizon to Verizon calling for about $90 a month.
A little pricey, but for my specific purposes this phone is perfect. Tons of texting and internet when needed (sports scores, check gmail, make sure the world isn't going to blow up, etc.).
I use the mobile internet all the time on my Nokia E62. Its browser is easily the best I've used on an handset (although I haven't tried Opera Mini). I've got the PA forums and all the news sites I read bookmarked on it any time I have a few minutes of downtime I flip open the bookmarks and find something to read.
Posting from it is a little annoying since it doesn't save my login information, but once I'm logged in posting is a breeze.
I also use Google Maps once in a while if I need directions. I've looked into getting a Bluetooth GPS receiver (since they aren't that expensive, and it'd be fun to play with), but I just haven't had the need yet.

I use my phone to get sport scores, dates and times of when teams are playing and watch live sport streams when I'm out of the house and am waiting for someone.
Occasionally I'll check the weather.
If I had an iPhone with a fully capable browser I think it would roughly stay the same though. I use my phone as a backup to find stuff out when I'm out on the road. I don't want to surf the net then, I want to pass 40 seconds of time and that can easily be done with a sports report.

When I didn't mind being raped for an extra $60 a month, I frequently used my Samsung Blackjack to browse RSS feeds and the forums here. It's surprisingly useful, if a little difficult to navigate, since the forums here don't really accommodate for mobile devices too well.
I use my Treo to fill in those empty gaps... you know, standing in line at the bank or Starbucks or whatever. For that, I usually surf news site with good mobile editions... digg, Joystiq, Engadget, and a couple others. I also check my e-mail, but I don't do push anymore... too annoying.
I also rely on Google Maps - I do a lot of driving around in my job and without it I'd be seriously lost. I used to use Express/On Demand before that, but Google Maps is cheaper and far superior - it even integrates with the Treo address book after the update.
I also (before the program broke) streamed podcasts, which was by far the coolest thing ever. No need to update my iPod or download a thing, just load Kinoma and I'm off.
Lastly, I also illegitimately use it to go online with my laptop, which is just sheer awesome. You haven't used a laptop until you're sitting somewhere with a bunch of friends who can't go online and you're cruising around at 90KB/sec. Hawtness.

Generally I only use a mobile device to access the internet (that is to say, a device which is not a computer) if I get a message on facebook or something during the day that I can't get while at the office.

I'm curious about Opera mini (I like having options) Is that for Pocket PC?
that's about it

Everyone should have a Sprint SERO plan.

Like I said, you can pay Sprint less than half of that, if you know the right website to go to.

multiple windows/tabbed browsing?
