Excuse me if theres a thread about this already, I checked three pages back and I didn't see one so I think I'm in the clear, but did anyone check out the Project: Sylpheed demo on Xbox Live? If you turn the vision mode to First-Person, invert the up-down controls and pick out your own custom control settings the game is actually really really awesome, locking on to 60 targets at once with missiles FTW, as does unloading every weapon your ship has on a capital ship and bringing it down in one pass. Anyone else checked it out?
Yes, I believe it's related to those games. I'm too lazy to look up the Wikipedia articles in reference though.
I tried the demo and it's pretty cool, but also very hardcore. The controls are pretty overwhelming actually. This is definitely not a "pick up and play" kind of game. Then again, I don't think any flight-sim game (X-Wing, Wing Commander, etc.) has ever been like that, as there's always a shit-ton of things to worry about (shields, locking, movement, power management, etc.).
You can't argue with the $40 price though. And since I'm a huge Squeenix fan, I'm going to pick it up just to encourage them to release more games for the 360. (Yeah, I know SE didn't make it, Game Arts did, but they published the version in Japan)

After a few more play throughs, the demo really grew on me, some of the weapons are awesome, and the combat is just so busy and huge!
