Photo Printer preventing bootup?

So, I've got a computer running Windows XP, with a Kodak PP500 printer hooked up to it. When the printer isn't hooked up, it works fine, but when the printer is hooked up, the computer won't boot past the "Intel" screen that shows before the computer boots. I'm currently re-installing the drivers, but if that doesn't work, what's the next step? I admit to being fairly stumped by this one.

Go into the BIOS and see if you can disable the USB booting, maybe the BIOS is detecting a card reader or internal harddrive in the printer as some sort of bootable device.

Yeah, it's a BIOS thing. We have Dell PCs that do that with certain USB devices. If the device is turned off on bootup, it will also boot properly. I don't remember if I ever fixed it, but if I did, it was either a bios setting or a bios update.

At work we had a bad parallel printer that could cause this problem, albeit under Windows 2000. We ended up having to get the main board in the printer replaced.

I tried shutting off the USB booting, no luck. How would I go about getting a BIOS update on a custom-built computer when the head IT guy (i.e. the guy who knows what the hell the motherboards are) is on vacation?

A phone call with Kodak tech support has shown that it's a driver conflict between the photo printer and our network printer (and once I hooked the local printer up to the computer, that printer, too). Thanks for the help.

Wow, nevermind. Still doing it after everything is unhooked, save for the mouse, keyboard, and monitor.

I don't see how it could be a driver issue if it is happening before Windows even starts up. There is software that can detect what motherboard you have. http://www.sisoftware.demon.co.uk/sandra/ After using that you should be able to check what version you have and what version you should upgrade too.

Oh, check your boot order to make sure that USB devices (if it's an option) are not before your primary boot drive.
