I would like to start a dialogue on the new Tomb Raider installment. I am enjoying the game greatly, as a long-time fan of the franchise. I think anyone that likes Tomb Raider or Prince of Persia would like it. (Do I wish I could rewind time, though.)
I find that its a good mix of old school and new school, although I dislike the fact that controls are a little inconsistent, and the only new moves Lara has are archaeological finds from Prince of Persia. It has been visually stunning as Legend is, and is injected with more adrenaline and difficulty like the old games. I am playing it on easy the first time through and it has already been more frustrating and taken longer in the first 6 levels of the game than the entirety of Legend on hard.
Is Legend really that easy? I haven't played it yet, and I remember hearing it was pretty short, but easier than Anniversary on easy mode sounds... pretty easy.
1. There are no, "@%;&@)#*(&%@)(#*$@ Lara! Thats not what I wanted you to do!" moments. The controls were almost... TOO intuitive.
2. I don't get worked up over shooting mercenaries that don't get any more difficult to defeat. (Although the bosses are sorta tough.) Aside from level end fights, there are 4 non-human encounters in the entire game.
3. Timed runs or traps? Maybe one or two.
4. I never once got lost, ever; also, you pretty much never reach dead ends or go the wrong way first.
However, the camera also never once made me mad, and when I pressed a particular button combination or sequence, I knew what was going to happen, there was no guessing what the game was going to decide you should do. I also liked that Lara had to actually return from the places she went into on a couple of occasions.
Anyway, if you want more opinions on it, feel free to pm me or whatnot.

but yeah, general "buzz" all around is positive, i'm enjoying the crap out of it. I'll be playing it again if it hits the 360 for achievements though.
