Can't remove Anti-Virus

So when I was staying on campus at university, we had to install a special version of McAfee VirusScan if we wanted to connect to the internet through the uni network. This was to prevent students from using P2P stuff and from spreading a virus through the network.

As you might expect, it was feature-locked so you couldn't really mess with it or disable it or anything. The trouble is, I've left now but I can't get the damn thing off my PC. There are no uninstall options I have found and I'm locked out from accessing most of the options.

I tried using Add/Remove software to uninstall it and it seemed to go through with it, but 20-30 minutes later it just pops back up again, as if its reinstalling itself from the grave. Since doing this it has started to cause me problems, for example, every 10-20 minutes it sort of 'refreshes' itself, minimising any program i've got open and taking me back to desktop, which is particularly annoying when gaming.

Is there anyway I can force this off my system without formatting?

Dude, it took me forever to uninstall McAfee. You need to install a fresh copy over it, then uninstall it. If that doesn't work I think there might be a program on their website to get rid of it once and for all. So annoying.

Norton has something similar if you run into the same problem with them.

Thanks a lot, that seems to have done the trick.

Hopefully I won't have any more problems with it.
