Trying to get some tool tickets.

Well I had this idea in my head that I was gonna drive up to Hamilton, ON and go see a tool concert, but I was just informed that the concert may be sold out. I couldn't find tickets at ticketmaster and I'm not sure if I can trust these other websites. So what are the alternatives of getting tickets? I mean, craiglist or something? Ebay? I never bought tickets of anything before, so I'm kind of lost and have no idea what the fuck to do. This has kind of shat on my day :(

Also it would probably help to say I live in the US.

I don't know if this is true. But my friend who is an avid concert goer said that the people outside selling tickets are usually good for tickets, but you usually have to pay a bit more. Apparently $50-$100 more.

I saw Tool recently in Orlando - absolutely fantastic. And there were some guys outside selling tickets for it, though I don't know if they were legit or not.

It does seem to be a gamble for driving there and hoping you can buy a real ticket from someone.

In all seriousness don't bother buying scalped tickets, at the door or on Ebay you're just perpetuating an industry that doesn't do any work.

I have no problem playing outragous prices that are set by the concert managers because despite what they set, it's the value they perceive is worth the effort they put into it.

Scalpers do nothing, they don't make it more convient to buy a ticket what so ever, in fact they make it harder to buy a ticket because they are taking away the availability of seats.

Don't buy a ticket for anything above the face value of the ticket as it perpetuates an unsavoury practice.

Morals are great and all.. But it is a tool concert. I think trying a scalper is the only chance you have.

Yeah so you'll be bored by the 6th minute of all of their repetitive songs, in person, while Maynard stands at the back of the stage like some pretencious wanker because he can hear the sound better as opposed to trying to do a decent live show.

In all seriousness, they're going to tour again it's not their final show, next time pay attention see when the tickets go on sale and buy tickets then.

Yeah, I heard Maynard does that. Apparently John from RHCP did that for a while too. Anyways, like I said; my buddy told me that scalpers were good for it, but if you end up getting ripped, it's not me. But like Blaket said, you're better off waiting.

I saw them a couple of weeks ago. They were rather good. I have seen them a couple of times before and I didn't find myself feeling bored. To each their own I suppose.

Aye I saw them in Richmond earlier and it was a great show, even if Maynard did hang out in the back. They make excellent use of visuals too though, you definitely wont be bored. How far away is Ontarario from where you live? If the drive isn't too bad then it could be worth your time. If you feel bad about buying from a scalper try and get to the box office of the place and see if they have any available first.

Seeing Tool live is awesome. The guy above is a wanker. I had to pay ridiculous ebay prices to get tickets to a Tool concert in a 3000 person venue. I was right above the stage though and it was amazing.

So you bought it off ebay? That might be a safer bet for me.

    Check Craig's list, too.

But buying off ebay works fine.

Are you going to listen to music or stare at men?

The whole image of rockstars really bugs me; you should be selling your sound, not your image. Shit, if you want to look at something, go see a pussycat dolls concert...but i'm sure no one is going for the music.

I've picked up tickets off eBay before without any problems. There's usually a bunch of tickets at inflated prices right after the concert is sold out and more reasonable ones close to the date of the show.

If you're really low on cash, there's always the option of going to the venue and watching the prices fall as the night wears on. At one show I heard tix were going for $50 off or more because too many scalpers tried to get in on the action.
