Support the Cub Scouts of America

Scouting has been a part of American culture for a long time. Like a million years or so. Scouting helps boys develop into young men, and while the Boy Scouts get most of the glory, it all starts with Cub Scouts.

The Cub Scouts serve many purposes. Their primary mission is to ingrain young boys with a basic moral compass. They also aim to increase the sociability of these children and to develop their sense of curiosity and wonder. Children are brought together to socialize in a safe, supervized, moral environment where activities ranging from basketball to ice skating to boating are available to take part in.

The positive effects scouting has on boys and young men are readily apparent. Scouts do better in school, are less likely to get in trouble with the law, and have an 80% lower rate of homosexuality than non-scouts.

So please, support the Cub Scouts of America

I went through Beavers and most of Cubs.

we did dick all, and it was really just supervised playtime with uniforms. Also a camping trip or two.

EDIT: But I realise that not all of the chapters are like that, so yes, support anyway.

I didn't, I just heard about it here.

I don't get good cable TV. I get "so shitty that if you cancel we won't even bother going out there to disconnect it" Broadcast Basic.

not that I give a fuck; nothing good on TV anyway.

I was a cub scout, I remember becoming a 'second sixer' then being forced off my ivory tower when I kicked a football into some kids face. It was hideously boring.

Why did you feel the need to point this out?

From all indications, this doesn't seem to be a joke thread and if it isn't, this wasn't neccessary.

A bunch of my friends were scouts. From what I hear from them, most of their time was spent lighting things on fire, except for one of them. His time was spent watching them light things on fire and wringing his hands.

I would dig holes in front of the eagle scout's tents and they would always trip in them.

This is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. The mormons don't own the Boy Scouts. Different local chapters are run by different organizations.

No they have a pretty big hand in it along with the Roman Catholic Church

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3474896/

Which part of "pretty big hand" means took over?
I live in the heart of where the "mormons" are, and I know of at least 4 local troops run by the baptist church, one run by the local methodist church.

And what does "lol Utah" have to do with anything?

I made it to Life scout.

    Never finished my Eagle project.

My scout troop was awesome though. A bunch of delinquents, we were frequently asked not to come back to various camp sites on the east coast. We had one kid who couldn't stop stealing cars. He taught us all how to smoke weed.

Also, I stabbed someone with a knife at in a fight at a scout camp and wasn't kicked out.

I did cubscouts for years and did boy scouts for about a year and a half. I pretty much stayed a tenderfoot, because I couldn't be bothered to do the merit badge stuff. The guys in my troop were hella cool dudes. I just liked going out with cool dudes in the woods, peeing on each other's tents as they slept and running into a freezing cold lake naked. Then the dude in charge quit and was replaced by a tool who was all about merit badges and ZOMG EAGLE SCOUTS and thats when I quit.

    this statstic is so sad

I think it should read that the scouts have an 80% higher rate of suppressed homosexuality
