I will be getting an apartment within the next few months. I'm trying to formulate a list of basic necessities. I'm moving in with my girlfriend and we're basically starting fresh. Below is a list of what I might need to get so far. I'm not entirely sure on every thing, but for the most part, I'll be needing the basics like toilet paper, silverware, etc. I might not need to get everything on this list, but anything would be helpful. If you guys have any suggestions, please let me know!
I have a bed, dresser, night stand, couch, etc. I'm talking mainly just general stuff for an apartment like maybe a George Foreman grill, or some place mats for the kitchen table.
it's easier to know all the stuff you need after you move in. As soon as you unpack everything you go, "I think we need this and that and... blah blah blah".
Don't sweat it about tupperware too much, although its good to have a couple of 1 or 2L containers to hold leftovers from a big curry or something. Just buy the occasional container of olives or something from local delis and get takeout once or twice, save the containers, and you'll be up to your eyeballs in plastic in no time keep jam jars and stuff too.
Kitchen tools: Colander for draining pasta and cans of beans and stuff. One that can double as a vege steamer? Winnar. hand juicer (?). Decent knives and a block to keep them in. Spice rack? you can never have too many frypans. breadboard/cutting board. corkscrew!
Ohhh, those stick blenders are cool, good budget alternative to an actual food processor. Depends how much you'll be cooking though. scales if you bake, otherwise who cares. Microwave!
Oven cleaner. don't bother buying it until the oven actually needs cleaning though. That's like a twice-a-year job. Dunno that you really need special garbage bags, I just use plastic shopping bags. Recycling FTW.
Laundry: get one of those non-bleach rinses that kill dust mites and such. They're really good.
A lot of the stuff on your list you don't need to buy until you actually need it, like lightbulbs and stuff. Grab some matches and candles in case of blackouts and romantic evenings
