Razer Copperhead Craps out!

Hey guys, I have a real problem with my Razer Copperhead "gaming" mouse. I had an issue with the original mouse that I got with it double clicking upon a single click, I got that one replaced and now I have this one that is also giving me problems. My main problems are that upon booting up, the tray icon doesn't load up because it does not readily detect the mouse. Why? I cannot figure out. Basically the drivers cannot detect the mouse, and I have tried everything within my knowledge the fix this. I have tried switching the USB ports, I have also tried using different versions of the copperhead drivers and nothing seems to work.

Here's what I have done with Razer Support on the phone. Downloaded latest drivers off of the website, with the mouse plugged in, you install the drivers, reboot and it should work. It doesn't, and the configurator just doesn't pick up the mouse, but without any drivers installed, I can plug in the mouse and windows will come up with a little pop up near the clock saying "New Hardware Found: Razer Copperhead Mouse" and yet when I install the drivers it decides not to work.

Here's the kicker though, the damn thing was working last night, fine and happy, but since I have booted down my computer, then in the morning, rebooted and it simply does not work! This is very frustrating and do not know what my computer is doing to screw with this... no new software or anything has been installed recently and I am using pretty commonplace items on my computer. An E6400 dual core processor, 2 gigs of ram, a standard HD with plenty of space, and Windows XP 32bit Home edition.

Any ideas?

I can't exactly help you but I will say my Copperhead has all the same symptoms. Mine was doing the double-click shit a month ago and I got pissed and slammed it really hard and it quit doing that. The other thing mine does is if I do a hard reset I have to unplug and replug the usb end into the PC to get the mouse to detect and load software.

Its rather annoying but the mouse itself is so good as well as comfortable.

Yeah, I agree the mouse is good, it's very sensitive and comfy but if only it will work!

I had a similar issue with my Habu, but mysteriously the tray application launched again while booting up the next time. My mouse still functioned, but the settings were all missing without that app, so I lost my sensitivity and all that.

Is the Razer driver icon showing up in the tray when they are installed? If not, check your list of startup applications in msconfig. Make sure all the Razer related executables are check-marked.
