Quick Airline/Flying Question

Okay, so I have a flight booked for tomorrow evening at 7.30 pm. However, I don't have to work during the day as expected when I booked the flight, and there is an earlier flight (1.10 pm) at the same airport/same airline going to the same destination (it's probably the same airplane). My question is, if I were to goto the airport early enough to catch the 1.10 flight, would they let me get on standby and ride on that flight if a seat is available? I will have no luggage to check, only a piece of carry-on and my laptop, so that would be no issue. Also, I am flying out of Bush International Airport through Continental Airlines.

Thanks for the info!

Just call and ask. they would be able give you a more definitive answer than anyone here can, unless there is someone at that desk right now reading this thread.

There's a pretty good chance they can put you on, since it's summer and most flights are never fully booked.

Yeah, if you've got no luggage, there's a decent chance they can do that. Of course, if you don't get on, you'll either have to go through security all over again, or spend the 4 hours in the airport.

I am at the airport now and am reading this. I work at the desk for the airline you are traveling on. I would say yes, just please post your SSN number so I can double check your flight info. ;) seriously don't do that.

For all the times I've flown this has happened a few times where I could leave early or later, just call as the others have already said.

Thanks for the info guys, you're giving me hope! :) I'm going to call the airline this evening after I get off work to double-check. Thanks again!
