The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Visually, it looks pretty faithful to the games. A lot of scenes taken from Blood Money, not to mention the score. Based on that alone I think it looks awesome..
But, 47 apparently has a love interest, and there are tons of explosions. So I guess it'll be standard hollywood action film fare, which although I knew it would be, I had always hoped it would be a dark psychological kind of film. Oh well.
If you earn enough money being stealthy to get the good weapon upgrades you don't have to be stealthy anymore. I completed the Mardi Gras mission once killing over 200 people and many other missions killing everyone on the map.

see, but in a situation where stealthiness is encouraged--rewarded, even--I feel compelled to be stealthy, and that I've fallen short of my mark when my stealthiness is less than ideal.
Goddamnit, Hollywood and Valve, where is my fucking Half-Life movie!?
half-life was a movie
Which is exactly why porting it to the silver-screen would be so fucking simple... Just find some look-alike actors, throw in 200 million for special effects, copy-and-paste the story-line from Valve, and... viola! A movie I'd see 10 times in 10 days!
Hell, maybe even go balls-crazy and have the geniuses at Valve write a screenplay that is original! It would rock my cock!
misbehavin on

Ubikoh pete, that's later. maybe we'll be dead by thenRegistered Userregular
My guess is, Valve has a Half-Life movie in the tank somewhere... And they're waiting for the right moment. Or the right set of circumstances (right director, studio willing to let them do their own vision, actors, etc.).
And why do I think this? Writing.
Valve employs some very high-quality writers full-time, and they can't be writing all the time for the games. Let's face it, since Half-Life 1 was released, the same writers have been on the payroll for nearly 10 years to produce roughly 45 hours worth of gameplay, atleast 35 of which is spent fighting, so only 5-10 hours of storytelling. So, these writers must be doing something, and writing a quality screenplay for a very successful franchise is definitely a good way to spend that money, I would think.

it's like, I have an opinon--I know, know, you'll have the opposite one
It's a weakness.
Also, I love games where the object is to be stealthy. Splinter Cell? I fucking owned in the original, and I was awesome at CT.
Extraordinary takes time
What was that movie with Cheen that had those aliens with backwards bending knees? It was like HL.
EDIT: The Arrival. He looks like Gordon in it.
