Help with a new mouse.

This might not be the right place to post this but I will anyway. I have been looking at getting a new mouse lately and I have come down to two choices. The Logitech MX518 and Logitech G5 (old version). I am leaning more to the MX518 and it seems having two side buttons would be a great thing to have in gaming yet I seem to hear more support for the G5.

What do you guys think ?

Cheers

MX518 is good, and logitech provide support for all products.

Between those two I would definitely go for the 518, I can't stand the missing side button on the old G5

although if your open to other suggestions still, I much prefer the razer deathadder to my old 518

Thanks for the responses guys. I only came down to these two as they are the only ones I can find on the site that I am viewing with which I have $100 to spend on an online giftcard.

they are essentially the same mouse. the MX518 has 2 side buttons and is optical, the G5 has 1 side button and is laser.

You have to decide whether or not laser > 1 side button.

Laser is good, but if I had to decide between those 2, i dunno which I would choose.

Actually optical is still better than laser

I use the MX518 and love it. If this mouse ever dies I plan on buying another one.

Hate to threadjack, but I'm looking for a bluetooth mouse (short on USB ports so I'd rather not have a dongle). Any recommendations?

Don't start that argument. If you can tell the difference, between modern laser mice and a 518, you are lying.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, just that one is newer technology.

Laser mice do perform better on some surfaces that optical cannot, that's about it.

For a Wireless gaming mouse, if you can live with only 1 side button, get a G7.
