Did you know: Kirby was named after Jack Kirby, the lawyer for Nintendo when they were sued by MGM for copyright infringement because of the character "Donkey Kong" strongly resembling "King Kong." He won the case.
(I am not 100% sure that's really where the name comes from, but I'm like 85% sure)

It's debatable. There's also rumor that he's named after Kirby Corporation, a vacuum cleaner company. Also I think it's John Kirby.
I think I remember a comment he made back when Meta Knight was announced that he didn't like putting Kirby characters in over other characters, because he felt like he was being selfish or narcissistic.
Which means that Marx probably won't ever get into Smash.

Or it means that he will make a spinoff called Super Smash Kirby.
Kirby's attacks have very slow animations, his air attacking in particular. He's lacking in reach, he falls pretty fast, he's not at all very powerful or very damaging, he's light as hell.

I'm betting against G&W returning. He was a meh character that not a lot of people care about, and his unlcoking seemed more like a joke than anything else.

It's not as if they intentionally made him a joke character though. And they don't even need to redo his model. They can just copy/paste him from melee with a few tweaks to make him balanced. I don't see any reason why they would remove a character that's so easy to convert.

Disk space is the only reason really.
No way in hell are they going to remove characters because they're out of space on the disk.
They could easily fit twice as many characters as in SSB:M without breaking a sweat.
I don't understand why people are such apologists when it comes to removing non-clone characters from Brawl. There really isn't any good reason to do it, but everyone's like "Well, I don't play them anyway..." Every character in the game is the favorite of a lot of people. Trying to dismiss the impact of the removal of an established character doesn't make it a good decision. The only character removals that are justified, IMHO, are the clone characters besides Ganondorf, who are all minor characters and just confuse issues of game balance.

That's what I was about to say. The Gamecube disk could only hold 1.5 gigs, where the Wii disk (assuming it's a DVD) holds 4.7 gigs. No way space is any way a problem now.
It's very difficult to give two characters the exact same movesets just with a different set of stats, and have them both be equally balanced.
Uhh... whole new movesets and different stats is harder to balance. More variables. Clones are a very good thing from a game balance, design, and content standpoint.

My point is, the original character's attacks and specials can be designed with that character's stats in mind. Supposing that the original is perfectly balanced, the clone is more likely to be unbalanced because it uses all the same moves that were created for the original, but it has to have substantially different stats to justify being a separate character.

Because he's ugly and no one played as him?
I didn't actually know Sakurai invented Kirby.
Why have the recent Kirby games been so mediocre if he's in charge?
