Greetings!
I'm upgrading my father's HP Pavilion 734n with additional RAM. Soon, he will break through the pain and suffering of only having 512mb of memory, and join the elite group of indivituals with more ram than my first computer's disk drive. It's like a five year old computer, I think. In the past, I have been called in to replace the Ethernet card, replace the cooling fans, and upgrade the whole stupid case when the power suppy died.
This RAM is some stuff I picked up off the discount rack at MicroCenter. The case says it's 512mb DDR2 667/533MHz PC2-5300/4200.
I'm a software guy, not a hardware overlord. I have no idea if the RAM compatible or not, but I can exchange it in it's current un-opened state if I learn that I need a different kind.
To this end, I'm trying to find the specs on this stupid computer. HP's website is
no help at all. The included manual is of the "This is how to turn on the computer. The cdrom tray is not a cup holder." variety. It *did* mention that the computer can support up to 2 gigs of RAM.
So, yeah. Can anyone tell me if this is going to work?

Here is a list of a bunch of compatible memory for you to choose from, though:
