Photo question on the Blackberry pearl

So my girl friend just got a blackberry pearl phone and she can't seem to send and receive photos. It should be able to do it because that is one of the reasons that she got it. I can't seem to find any thing on the internet and a quick google search yieled nothing. Any help?
