Well I just come from Ruining my Rainbow Six disc because I accidentally moved the x box when it was playing,
Microsoft refuses to replace the disc and I can't afford a new one so now I am up for any suggestion that will fix the disc. It doesn't look like a big or deep scratch just a circular scratch.

Unfortunately, the circular scratches are the worst. Try finding someplace that has industrial resurfacing machines. GameCrazy does, most used CD stores do too. It's your only hope.

Go to the grocery store and buy a $4 thing of Brasso, in the cleaning isle. Get a microfiber cloth and some rubber gloves while you are at it.

Put some brasso on the cloth, and start working it in to the bottom of the CD. I did the same thing with a used iPod I bought and made it look like new. Basically it will strip the top layer of plastic and make everything smooth again, it could take some time, it's slow going. Just keep going around the disc till it looks better.

Odds are there is nothing wrong with the data, that part is safe, but the plastic protecting it is so messed up the laser refracts all over the place and can't read it.

EDIT: Oh yeah, he's right. You could take it to like Blockbuster or GameStop, they should have resurfacing machines in the back, they used them all the time for used games. You'll probably just need to pay a small fee.

GameStop and Blockbuster don't do resurfacing. Also polishing doesn't work on the circular scratches.

Some Hollywood Videos have resurfacing machines.

The Family Video in my area has one of those resurfacing machines. It doesn't fix everything, but it's worth a shot. Check around the rental stores, basically.

Why does Microsoft refuse to replace it? You didn't tell them it was YOUR fault did you? There have been several reports of the X360 scratching discs all on its own and Microsoft had no problem replacing those discs. Never ever admit it was your fault when these things happen!

That being said, I'm not suggesting if you do something incredibly stupid like leaving it in a public area and it gets stepped on that you should lie about what happened, but a small fluke like accidently moving your console while it's on shouldn't be held against you. Especially when you consider it would cost the company all of a few cents to issue you a replacement disc.

Also, can't you just take it back to the place you bought it and ask for a new copy? Most places (especially large chains) have no problem swapping out something for another copy of the same thing.

They only will replace Microsoft games and usually they charge you 20 bucks.

What, really? Hrm, try talking to the publisher themselves? If you have your receipt, I don't see what the big deal is.

As for the 20 dollar thing on their own games, I could've sworn they were talking about doing it for free now or 'reduced cost' due to the overwhelming amount of scratched disc reports..

Bought the game awhile ago and last time I called microsoft about my gears disc (which got ruined by heat damage) but had some scratches on it they refused to replace it. Doubt Ubisoft would considering how long ago I got it.
