the joys of 3gp

so i have a video clip recorded on my phone, that i wish to upload to the internet. I wish it were as simple as that. The two problems that i have are firstly, the incredibly helpful 3gp file format (which absolutely nothing seems to want to know about), and secondly, it needs rotating.
Now, i've been over sourceforge, and found MediaCoder, which looked like helping in the conversion side of things, but it either crashes or locks up, or when it does export, there's either no sound, or it just out-right refuses to work with anything. I figure once i've got it into a more standardised file format, i can do the rotation in windows movie maker (no Premiere or Final Cut on my pc).
Does anyone have any grand suggestions or ideas how i can solve this for the minimum amount of effort and installations?

I think Super converter by Erightsoft does it. It is also free.

IMToo converts (sometimes) successfully, you might want to rotate it in another basic movie program what can handle .mov or .xvid or whatever else IMToo can convert too.

You'll also be able to use VLC too if memory serves correctly.

Yeah, VLC I think will do the trick. I know it plays 3gp ok and should be able to convert to other formats. If that doesn't work, ffmpeg is what we use at work for such things, if you've got access to a *nix machine.

Yep, that's the one. You go to File->Wizard and you'll get transcoding options.
