Out of towners: need local surveillance?

So, I'm in Seattle all the time, and I frequent Capitol Hill with my trusty mini video camera. So, I thought I'd offer a service. Like I did with the Gameworks video, I would be willing to take a bit of video of where you're staying or parking areas or something like that, if you need to plan ahead. Granted, I'm not professional photographer, and my camera's more for size and convenience than quality, but I think I get the essentials taken care of. I know it can be intimidating to make plans for such a huge event in such a foreign place, so I figure maybe I could lend a hand.

So, post here or pm me if you have anything you need to see beforehand that you can't find elsewhere on the internet.

Although the route is really simple, a video of the walk from the Crowne Plaza lobby to the WSCTC would be useful for people that don't know the area. The route from some other hotels to the WSCTC would also help. The reverse of those routes at night would also be good; tired attendees getting lost is no fun for anyone.

WSCTC down to Pike's Place could also be useful.

This one might be a little more difficult to attain, but if you can arrange a little walk-through tour of one of the Crowne Plaza's suites and get some video of the interior of one of them, I would be eternally grateful. All the virtual tours and online photos (which are infinitely small) don't really do any justice. One of the Sealab crew even called and asked for a quick size estimate (they have them for their meeting rooms but not for the guest rooms) and the employee on the other line said that nobody had ever asked that before and guessed at the square footage. Sometimes hotels will give you a walk through of a suite if they think it will increase your chances of using their hotel. Just tell them the person you're making the video for is from out of town and "thinking of staying in one of your fine suites," that should be enough.
    Thanks, dude.

i'll see what i can do with the routes around seattle, the one to pike st market would be easy, since it's pretty much down the same road (although with 1 way traffic, you have to cross to the next block, unless you're walking). i'll definitely check into getting a tour of the crowne plaza. i'll call them up and tell them straight out that we're going to be filling their hotel next month and some people want to see if it's going to be worth it to stay there (i'll also tell them that my name is robert khoo! (and/or mike krahulik/jerry holkins :P))

Another thread just made me think of this one. The walk from the Pacific Place (Pre-PAX Movie) to PF Chang's (the Pre-PAX Dinner)

Come to think of it, I don't think surveillance is the term you want to be going for in the title. I think it's more of a video tour or something.

Yes, reconnaissance is the word, or just recon.

I could run there in 50 seconds :)

Probably 2 minute walk and I know a route thru buildings to get there.

I poked it in Google Earth a few months ago and came to the conclusion that the distance is just under half the distance between Red Lion and MBC from last year.

Oh thank god, I hated that walk. I stayed in the Doubletree/Hilton for two years and it was a straight ten minute walk uphill.
