keeping it simple and short:

I'm going away for a month. It's summer. My last gen ibook G4 battery is already down to half capacity.

Q1: How should i store it? in the laptop or not? some people say fully charged, some say half-charged..
Q2: any advice on how to get some of my battery life back? I used to get 3 or 4 hours. Since, say, last oktober it maxes out at an hour and a half.

What type of battery is it? Li-ion? If so, then leave it half charged. Also, figure 300-500 charge cycles (or 2 to 3 years) before you have to replace it.

    1. Store it at around 40% charge.
    2. You can’t get the battery life back, they just stop holding a charge as well over time. Apple laptop batteries seem to go out really fast (Faster than other vendors using the same batteries!), IMHO it’s because the cooling systems in Apple laptops suck, and higher temperatures are bad for battery life.

Don't forget to Calibrate your battery every so often. It probably won't help too much with the total run time, but it can't hurt. This goes for all Apple laptops.

I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?

Another thing to help improve the life is to not drain it fully. If it's running low on charge, then stop using it. It's better to have some charge than for it to go completely dead.
