    What.

    Why.

Why are they stating the obvious.

    And why is it newsworthy.

    And why is it threadworthy.

    Why/

There's a reason my parents would only let me play video games on weekends.

New study reveals mice like cheese.

I take this as evidence that we need more edutainment games for today's youth. I'm still waiting on Halo: Algebra evolved, and Grand Trail Oregon: Old west stories.

So there's a lot of blabbering going on, but I think people missed the actual point, which was not that children would prefer to play games than do homework, but that children who use their leisure time to play games are less likely to do their homework than those who don't. They're comparing the gamers and non-gamers. The non-gamers get their homework done, the gamers don't.

It's still kind of a no-brainer. It's correlation, not cause. I prefer playing games because I have a short attention span. I also sucked at getting my homework done because of said attention span. Ergo, games made me retarded.

So children like having fun more than doing homework, eh?

    Maybe that's why there's a lot of my homework I didn't do.

Lets admit that if a Grant Trail Oregon game was ever made, most kids would just end up killing most of the people in the starting town, make the rest their slaves, and then go to Oregon with their loot. Hell, I would do that.

These kids aren't even champs like I was back in elementary school. 58 minutes? I used to pound through Kirby's Adventure and Megaman 2 once a day, and that took a hell of a lot longer than 58 minutes. They're just not trying.

It's funny because they're saying that video games should be banned!

Otherwise would just be acting like overly defensive jackasses.

Oh man, there's totally room here for a study on the effects of letting kids outside the house during the day. Who knows how to write a grant proposal?

There is a 90% chance of children who play outside to get mauled by bears.

Children who leave the house are exposed to orders of magnitude more UV solar rays which can cause skin cancer than kids who spend all day indoors! Won't somebody please think of the children?!
