Miss Video Game Qualifiers Announced

I'm sure some of you remember the Miss Video Game 2007 Championship :lol:. Now the competitors with the top public votes have been narrowed down to 48 from 500+ and will be competing in an online tournament. 5 finalists will be flown to Montreal from Nov. 9-11 for Festival Arcadia, Canada's Largest Video Game Event. The event will be web-cast and you're welcome to attend. The winner will take home $1000 and a Vacation (or cash) worth over $4000.

    Wow. I thought nothing could beat last year's Tag booth at Arcadia in terms of sheer marketing-towards-lonely-nerds stupidity, but this takes the cake!

    (though Arcadia rules, last year we could actually play the Wii there two weeks before it was out).

    I can't help but wonder if some of these girls just picked some names of games at random. It's not like you can go anywhere, and with a little effort, not know the biggest games of the present time.

    They haven't competed yet, in the first round they've been narrowed down by online votes. The 2nd Round is where the gaming begins. It's going to be 1v1 CS in the Online Tournament, and then over 10 consoles and 15 games for the finals event.

    Think of a Mr. Video Game awards, where every guy is all tanned and waxed, with their square jaws and rippled abs. Maybe they're totally naked, with just an SNES controller to "tastefully" cover their junk.

    All of them are some variation of this, and the website describes every one of them as "avid gamers."

    That representantion of the male gamer pool is about how I feel about the female one.

    Probably right on both accounts. Neither have centered pictures, which means they're probably trying to hide something.

    The Mr. Video Game event you describe sounds interesting. I think the Miss Video Game event is a bit better off.

    There was a Very Special Episode of Star Trek: TNG in season 1 where the crew visited a planet where gender roles were reversed. So the men were subservient and always dressed like whores and it all looked so ridiculous, right?

    But what if that was only to point out how ridiculous our OWN GENDER ROLES ARE? D:

    I do remember that Episode but I think the broader goal of the event is to have a good time.

    p.s Montreal is a great city.

    I used to have a free subscription to EGM, and at one point there was mention of a Mr. Videogames contest that ran concurrent with a Ms. Videogames contest.

    And they were both hot.

    Yeah, between the Stupid Feminism Episode, the Stupid Drug Episode, the Stupid Wesley Is Condemned To Death Episode, the Stupid Evil Puddle Of Black Goo Episode, the Stupid First Ferengi Episode, the Stupid Deanna Is Getting Married Episode and the Stupid The Goa'uld Infiltrate The Federation Episode, there wasn't much room left.

    However, both Q episodes were really great, as was the Dixon Hill one and the one with the guys frozen from the 20th century and the Romulans. But yeah. Weak overall.

    I think for sheer entertainment, these girls should be asked questions about the games they listed. It would be pretty funny watching them try to make shit up on the spot.

    You have to love how clueless some of them are. One calls Goldeneye 'Golden Eye 007', and another refers to Square Enix as Squaresoft. How long has it been since they were called that?

    At least that means that they knew about Square before Enix bought them. I'd be more worried about someone who stares at you blankly when you mention Squaresoft and ask if you're talking about Square Enix.

    As far as games go, how about N? I wonder if any of them would be able to even get past the first 5 levels.

    The actual title of 'Goldeneye' for the N64 is actually GoldenEye 007. So there's a whole space worth of a typo o noz!
