When did everyone have the most fun in school? Was it college because you were free to do what you wanted? Was it middle school because it's middle school? Or maybe elementary school when there was no such thing as a GPA and everything was simple. I'm still in high school, where I'm having a good time, but for me it was elementary school. Everything was simple back then, class was easy, math was easy(curse you algebra I for being so hard and curse whoever came up with algebra II!), lunch was good, I was part of band, the safety patrol, sports. Then my family moved and everything got messed up, which is a whole other story which I don't want to get into right now. I still miss the simple good old days. Now everything is getting complicated.
When I was in high school I hated every minute of it. Like really hated it. High school is the worse thing a kid can go through in my opinion. It does nothing else but shatter self-confidence. But now that I'm in college, I find myself fondly remembering it. Yeah it was stupid but it was an easy going type of stupid. I guess I feel that way because college for me has sucked so far.

For the most part I was one of the people who did the shattering, so my high-school years were sunshine and rainbows.
K-12 ranged from boring to horrible. College was pretty awesome, but honestly I prefer working. Parties and all-nighters and such are fun and all, but nothing beats getting paid for your efforts.
I had a great time in high school. Acted in senior play, ran for school president, fun school trips, first girlfriend, prom, bunch of fun stuff. Here in Quebec, high school goes up to grade 11 and then there's two years of this thing called CEGEP before university. I think my CEGEP years were the best, because while high school people were cool, in CEGEP there was a lot more variety of people, which made it interesting. We were also learning some interesting stuff (unlike high school), but at the same time the workload was very easy, so it was mostly socializing.
And now university, I don't really enjoy the program I am in that much, so that's kind of a drag. But I'm doing well in it and I'm planning to go to law school after, so it's all good.
So far, senior year in high school. I didn't really have to try to pass, and just messed around in every class. I made the most out of my last year with all my friends.
Plus I had a lot of awesome teachers that would joke around with me.
I start college on Monday, and I hope it's enjoyable.
10-12 were pretty fun because by then I had a stable group of decent friends who were into the same shit, namely talking about computer shit all day and having LAN parties every weekend.
Grade 12 was the best overall because half of my courses were complete cakewalks. I got 95% in Graphics for showing up, surfing the internet, and occasionally fixing computer problems that the school district IT people wouldn't touch because we were using Macs. My French teacher had a rather... unique teaching style which fostered class behaviour that a substitute once described as "like being in someone's living room". Stagecraft was a blast, because work almost always meant climbing tall, unstable, death-defying ladders, crawling around in confined spaces, playing with things that had buttons and blinkling lights all over them, playing with nailguns, breaking stuff, and swearing a lot. As for Infotech, all that needs to be said is my instructor was in my World of Warcraft guild. If it weren't for these four courses my average would be somewhere around 60% and I would never have gotten into university.

You're starting college in the middle of July? What school do you go to if you don't mind me asking.

Musicians Institute. The courses start either in July or October, and I don't want to wait until October.

But really, 9-11th grade was great. Great friends, good grades, good family. I still remember how fuckawesome excited I was when one of my friends first got his car. And Theater Tech class was all kinds of badass. You want me to take these two by fours and use the scarily expensive equipment to make four stage stands? How big? I have a week?
Fifth Grade- Awesome, totally got into porn (actually that happened the summer before fifth grade, bless Penthouse magazine and those porn cards my friend brought to school..)
Eighth Grade- It seemed that all the animosity between everyone in sixth and seventh grade faded, and we were all kind of becoming one. That, and the racism was at least hidden.
Ninth Grade- Freshman year, I was living in Japan and everything was mellow. Then I discovered the joys of masturbation.

College has been my best years in terms of school. I actually learn things and there are tons of interesting and awesome people.
Also, I'm in Cambridge doing a 5 week study abroad. So yea -- having access to penny-arcade makes me feel less homesick (homesick, a little, but having a blast!).
senior year of high school. not by a country mile or anything, but it was pretty great.
i know a lot of people have a lot of angst about high school, but senior year was like 8 hours of hilarity and insanity every single day. i was homecoming king, had a much better GPA than i had had previously, got my first girlfriend and at then end of the year got my second (which lasted two and a half pretty awesome years), made tons of really good friends, and pulled so many pranks and got into so many stupid situations that i lost count. it was fun as hell.
don't get me wrong, college was AMAZING (the two snow days last year were probably two of the best five days of my life) and graduate school is turning out a lot like high school in that i get to hang out with the same cool kids in virtually every class, but that last year of high school was just tits.
oh yeah, i also got to drive around in a totally ballin' 1979 baby blue pontiac lemans.
edit: now that i think about it, senior year of college was almost as awesome as senior year of high school. ALMOST.

I'd say my Junior and Senior years of High School were my favorite. Which is odd, because my Freshmen/Sophomore years were terrible. I think part of it was that my freshmen and sophomore years, I tried too hard to be somebody I wasn't. I was one of those rare breeds (back then anyway) who participated in both Music and Sports, and I always felt uncomfortable around both groups because I felt like my sports friends didn't like me because of music, and vice versa. But finally at the beginning of my Junior year, I just said screw it and started being myself, and I found myself having a lot more fun and making more friends.
Plus, lots of great things happened those two years. Our football team went to the state semi-finals and we played in the Astrodome (which, in Texas, is quite a big deal), I made first chair tenor in our Area choir, and our band took a ski-trip to Colorado, among other things. And the friends I became close to during that time are people I still keep in contact with as much as possible.
Of course now I'm in college, but I'm also married and have a kid, so I probably am not quite getting the usual college experience. Which is okay - I wouldn't trade it.

I'd say right now - on the cusp of my senior year in college, living with my gf, and holding a nice cushy job at a law firm for the summer? What more could i ask for?

High school sucked. Middle school was fun, but college was the best.
High school sucked, mostly because I was always picked on. My life is getting better though, I still hang out with my close friends about twice a week. But yeah, High School sucks so much ass.

No. But you don't think the "fit in" culture isn't really the smartest thing at that point in life? College isn't like that.

I went to Catholic grade school, and while I love the religion, I absolutely detested the school. The entire experience was traumatizing.
High school was a blast. I'm not sure I've ever felt as close to someone as I did to my swim team, and all the other people I met in high school, from students to teachers, were completely awesome.
My first year of college was pretty good. Okay people, definitely some good times, and I appreciate the sense of freedom. So far, I'm not sure it holds up to high school though.
Grade 11 and 12 were best for me. Lost my virginity in 11, our grade 11 and 12 Rugby teams kicked all sorts of ass. Our FOOTBALL team never won a single game (the team was filled with the "popular" [READ : Assholes] guys/jocks of the school) and that was a great source of pride for me (and our rugby team) and comeuppance for them. I got along with just about everyone and I don't think many people can say that.
I thoroughly enjoyed my last years in high school for the most part. Pretty good memories.

all guys high school, which I guess probably has a bad stigma but I fucking loved it. everyone got along, no picking on or bullying at all. it was a lot of fun.
college I definitely enjoy because every day I go to class I feel like I am among people who really want to be there... but until I start actually working towards something it's just going to feel like a waste of time - even though it's my own fault.
Man, highschool all the way. I guess that's sort of a biased opinion, and I havent gone to Uni yet (Headed there in the fall) but I just had so many friends in highschool, and got to go on so many trips.
Between winning debate tournaments, to travelling to the states for marching band tour, to heading off to Quebec to experience bilingualism, I think I just had a pretty good run of it all.

High school was hell for me. I wouldn't go back even if they fucking paid me.
College, though, is shaping up to be a blast. This latest drag ain't so great, what with all the complications that go along with transferring from one uni to another, and all the bullshit that comes with it ("No I'm sorry sir these credits don't transfer"). But the next academic year looks like it's going to fucking rock for me.
I'm going to college in August, and I have a feeling those will be the best school years. But besides that, junior year was the best. I had a good group of friends who helped me grow as a person, I learned about all kinds of crazy shit, and generally created the groundwork for a lot of things/beliefs/ideas that I think will be important to me in the future. Senior year I switched schools, so less win. Junior year would have been better with a gf, though, not gonna lie.
My two years of graduate school. It was challenging, both education-wise and in my personal life (I had moved far away from home for that purpose - I stayed at home for undergrad). I had to make new friends, try new things, etc. Makes me upset that I ended up back at home shortly after graduating (working to fix that).
My senior year of high school wasn't bad, I had finally made a solid group of friends and had plenty to do. Of course, I was also only on campus for half the day - a definite plus .
College by far. It's really fucking hard doing engineering and varsity athletics at a div 1 school, but I'm really enjoying my work and everything else that comes with it. In high school, I felt like I just needed to get through it, but I'm actually appreciating the information here and trying to learn it regardless of my score on an exam.
You know what also helps you appreciate things? Being virtually broke for 3 years. I would kill for a scooter.
6th grade was really good for me. It was the last year before middle school, and the last year before I moved a town over. I had always been picked on, but suddenly everyone decided that I was funny that year. I found out that this one guy, that I had hated for years and who had hated me right back, actually had a lot in common with me- we ended up being good friends. The teacher my class had was young and fun, we were her first class. And I got straight A's all year.
Not sure if that's really the best year though- I've got nothing to complain about regarding my last two years in high school and first two years in college. It certainly did stand out at the time.
The latter half of my undergrad by far. Highschool was fucking awful, and it took me a couple of years after that to really get my overall shit together. Gradschool was alright, but not as good as those last few years of my BA.

Year 10 and year 11 (Which I'm in now)
I realised who my friends were and stuck to them rather than tagging the "cool" kids.
High School was definitely the best. Especially the later years of HS. I'm well into my college education, but since I'm still living with my parents college is nothing more than books and work and stress for me. I'm sure it's great if you actually live there and get to meet new friends and everything.
But on with highschool. It's great. It's like.. you're still learning lots of good information (I took AP calc, AP english, and AP art) so you feel productive, but you also meet your best friends there. Hang out and talk between classes and after school. Go to lunch and have awesome hilarious moments. Join clubs. Have the best teachers who make fun of you cuz you're foreign (for me anyway. it was awesome). Get your first girlfriend. All that jazz.
I have found that university has provided far less fascism than high school, so huzzah to university! In what other institution of learning could I leave in the middle of the class, go and drink at a nearby pub for an hour, and then return to class to do an acting assignment while hammered and it's all legal? University, baby.
