Lurk. And read the rules. If you'd bothered, you'd have realised you're not supposed to make threads like this.

Seeing as you're new you might not know what 'lurk' means, in forum terms it means to not post but just look around and see how things are done.

Find a clique and work towards joining it. Build up allies and cred.

Yeah, this is pretty much the best thing you can do for a while. For one, you can kind of see what most people like to talk about here, and you can find where you would best fit in. And two, you can get a better idea if this is really a forum you want to visit regularly. These are great forums, but they're admittedly not for everyone. The on-topic forums in particular are very structured with a pretty lengthly set of rules you will need to follow. Not that they're hard to follow, but some people just have a lot of trouble with them - check them out and make sure you can meld with them.

Once you do lurk for a while, try to limit your participation to posting replies. Starting new threads still wouldn't be a great idea until you've posted for a while and feel comfortable discussing topics with people here. I know it sounds strict or whatever, but it's really not that bad, and it makes these forums the great place they are. Basically, just use your head and you'll be fine. This isn't open-heart surgery or anything, so no need to stress about fitting in and stuff. Just take it easy and ease yourself in.
