So I booked a directly flight from Toronto to Seattle for PAX, there were two flights for departure/return. I picked the one that got there earlier on Thursday and left later on Monday. They canned those flights and moved me to the one that gets there later and leave earlier. I called and said that's not going to work, and they moved me to a flight that connects in Vancouver and arrives/departs Seattle at more reasonable times.
I checked for these flights on the site beforehand and had I not had a reservation before, the ticket would cost me $475 for the connecting one I called to switch to. I paid $600 for my original direct flight. They didn't charge me anything to switch (rightfully so), but should I be getting $125 back here? I have heard that if a price of a flight changes after you book it (for the better) you are supposed to get reimbursed, but dunno if that's a USA only thing.
tl;dr: flight got moved, the one they gave me was poop, changed it to something better which is actually $125 cheaper than what I paid for initially, should I get money back?
Squeaky wheel. I'm guessing that they're not going to call up and offer to give you the $125, but if you call them and calmly state what you've found and maybe slightly exaggerate the inconvenience of the schedule change I bet you can get it back.
The above advice is pretty spot on. Air Canada ain't gonna offer to give you money, you'll have to ask for it. Just be polite and calm, and maybe they'll give you a refund, or possibly, bump you up to a better class.
