Yeah, keep it open to all MMOs, I was just saying that in the chat thread -- err, the WoW chat thread.
And I don't have a screencap, but I guess there was a new guild that formed with the expansion, for Blood Elf females only. <Bloody Ladies>
Now feel free to ridicule me if it turns out I'm just a weirdo, but for the life of me I can't see one of them running around in-game without thinking of menstruation. Sorry.
I'm not even a Tolkien fan, but I'm just pissed that he says "it's from a movie".
It didn't even occur to me to be appalled by that, but now that you mention it.
And to contribute, we've been trying to recruit lately (well, ALWAYS, it seems) but we have this line about "Your name must not be offensive or ridiculous" in our application rules. It's an RP-PVP server and we like to avoid playing with people named Beefybull and such. So the other day we recruit a new hunter. He says he has a holy paladin friend interested. Yay! Tell him to post an app, we say.
We had someone actually get a GM to change his name since we wouldn't accept him with the silly name he had first. :P
We've suggested that in the past but usually the sort of people who name themselves dumb things aren't even willing to try.
Our raid-allianced RP guild, one of the most respected RP guilds, if not the only real one left on the server, recruited this druid named Mylkee. We don't even RP but we were all like when she joined our shared chat channel. She's a really nice person and a good druid but meh. And she's tried many times to get it changed, but the GMs won't go for it.
My name for my short life in WoW was "Faceeater". My guild didn't like it.
The best ever though. In EQ1, when they put up that new Stromm server, of course there was a huge rush of people so some names got through. About 6 hours after it went up I was in a group with this guy in Paladul Caverns and a GM showed up to change his name. It was Asswiggles Tittyshaker. AWESOME.
Who was it that played "Joe" in CoH at launch? I always thought it was hilarious because you've got this amazing costume creation system and this guy runs around with jeans and a t-shirt with a J on it.

This is one of the best things I've ever heard.

The old thread gave me a compulsion to screencap awful names...
I wish I had ready-to-go screens to post here, but I tend to avoid pickups in general and badly named ones especially (Our names have spaces in them, which makes a huge difference in being able to make quality names, to me at least).
I can probably spend 10 minutes in Atlas Park tonight though and have some goodies for you.
Some random guy took issue with me undercutting his netherweave at the AH and decided I need to be made aware of it, WITH AS MANY CAPS AS POSSIBLE. Out of some morbid curiosity I decided to /who him and his guild.
For a while on Thorium Brotherhood we had a series of people create names based on famous black people and roleplay them in general chat... I saw Waynebrady, MLking, Davechapelle, etc. This was in February, I assume it was a Black History month thing. I must have seen at least ten of these guys milling around the AH at one point.
Also on this server we have a guy named Loinheart...it always makes me giggle when I see him.
To every "Dessert Eagle" out there, I salute your idiocy!
Maybe that's just some awesome foresight there. They were planning on eating Eagles now that they're no longer on the endangered species list(off of protected as well?).

No matter how you try to justify it Legolas is a BAD NAME
No. Just, no.

Holy paladin's name? Darkexzile.
My mind just broke.
Oh yeah, he's in a guild called "axis of evil".

She has to deal with a lot of udder jokes.
My sister's bf plays WoW. His name is Joedagreat.
Drives me SO NUTS

That's kinda awesome.
last names...? An abomination!
I think that was JAEF

I didn't say it was a good one or that it made it any better, but the names like Taurenhunter or Slayarogue make me want to scream.
Just sad..
Also, I played with a CoH character named "Child of Satin" once. Yeah. Would've been funny if it were a joke.
> turn on light
Good start to the day. Pity it's going to be the worst one of your life. The light is now on.
Will the Terrible Names thread still include both the terribly bad and the terribly awesome?
That is teetering on awesome but not quite there yet.

In CoX, it seems like just about half the Captain <whatever> character's end up misspelling it as Captian. I mentally facepalm everytime I see it.
I was harassed City of Heroes for playing Normal Man. I didn't have any powers except for 6-slotted Brawl.
On Midgardsormr back during the US launch of Final Fantasy 11 I met a Ranger/Archer whatever that class was played by a Japanese guy.
Regoras.
True story.
Since that was, you know, his actual character name in EQ.
