As vast as the City of Heroes character creator is, it is very hard to create a convincing Tauren. Well, one that satisfies me anyway. This makes me sad. I wanted to re-create my Tauren warrior. I think I might try to make an Undead now ...

EDIT: As for the panda bears. I think Scooter's got the idea as far as the bulk, the hat and the ears. Not sure about the "snout" though. Looks more convincing as a panda though.

EDIT 2: So I had a brilliant idea. Instead of creating a new WoW themed character ... why not just recreate my old main from WoW character in CoH!

BEHOLD! BALTHAMAS!! Former level 48 Human Paladin! Now a level one Broadsword/Regen Scrapper! Of course, to complete the Paladin theme, I plan on taking the Medicine power pool and probably Leadership too (Paladin Auras!). Luckily I had some old WoW screenshots saved to a disc that I could draw from, so I tried as best I could to match the costume in CoH to the last known gear in WoW. I think it turned out pretty well. The only main difference is in WoW he most often used a mace/hammer.

I couldn't think of a name, so I did what so many have done before me and stole one from Tolkien.

Turns out someone had already used it...
So, here's a CoXified Blood Elf <<Whatever class uses a bow and traps>>, The Lost Tinuviel, I choose you!

By the way, the 3 of us on last night got to 6-8, so feel free to level up some without getting too far ahead. Go and grab yourself a jetpack.

I'll be doing absolutely nothing at work for the next 5 hours.

Nand Nor, another thing that could have worked for a Paladin, Inv/Mace Tanker. Paladins have kind of stepped up recently as very strong Tanks in groups.

And See317, Hunter is the class you are looking for. They also get Pets.

I considered that, but I've already got a Invuln/SS Tanker so I didn't want to retread old ground and end up making myself bored.

I got Balthamas up to level seven last night and I think this Paladin theme could be a fun change. At the very least an interesting challenge. I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to fit Medicine, Leadership and a travel pool along side the /Regen powers, almost all of which are worth taking. I'm not sure if I want to get into the Fitness pool either, but Stamina could help if I plan on running Leadership powers.

Unfortunately, poor Balthamas is no longer able to call his warhorse since he found himself in the strange modern world of Paragon City. What travel power should I go for? I'm thinking Flight, since it's the only thing that kind of fits a "magical power" idea.

Stamina's really not neccesary for regens, so I wouldn't worry about that.

I just finished downloading the client here on Vista and i get these errors when trying to load it up:

    1. You card or driver doesn't support GL_EXT_compiled_vertex_array
    2. You card or driver doesn't support GL_ARB_multitexture
    3. You card or driver doesn't support GL_ARB_texture_compression
    4. This error is a longer one which basically says that my graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4400) isn't supported. But when i go to your site, it says it is.
    5. City of Heroes has crashed and cannot continue. You may need to upgrade to a supported video card or driver.

I visited Nvidia and I have the latest drivers.

WoW ran in Vista for me and even LotRO ran in Vista. Am I doing something wrong?

Here is a link to the stickied Vista problems page.
They are having a bitch of a time with it because it seemingly randomly effects only some Vista owners. One guy can install it perfectly fine on Vista while another has problems. Regardless, from what I've heard, you can always get it working in the end.

While leveling your Paladin did you enjoy jumping around while going from point "a" to point "b"? Superjump is a very entertaining travel power.

Luckily the one in CoX doesn't have the nasty side-effect of pulping you at terminal velocity.

I am so in on this. Wonder if I can make a convincing goblin gadgeteer...

That looks pretty good. The only thing I'd be afraid of is that it might get us some unwanted attention, since he's based on an actual named character on the Warcraft universe.

EDIT: I've got to say though, that this whole WoW in CoH thing is having a bad effect on me. I'm getting a bad urge to actually go back to WoW for a month so I can run around as my Paladin. D :

Are there many Euro gamers in the Penny Arcade COX guild(s) these days? I played COH for a while a couple of years ago but never really got into it. Playing a lot of EVE has made me realise that co-ordinating with other players is crucial for enjoying an MMO and I think a lack of Euro play-time PAers to go busting heads with was what made me give up on it, but now I'm thinking it could be fun for doing some quick action while I wait for skills to train up in EVE.

Can't say there are. Seems like all the Euro PAers end up buying the Euro version before they find out we exist.

Buying the Euro version? How does that work? I thought there were just European and US servers? Are there whole different incompatible versions of the games now?

The Euro version only has access to the 2 UK, 1 German and 1 French servers.

    Well, that blows.

Do most MMOs work that way? How about Wow? I guess that lends itself to quick raids. But...meh, I don't really ever manage to get into fantasy stuff usually.

I don't know if most do it, WoW does.
If you buy a US cd key from the NCSoft page you can play on the US servers, though.
