If you're new to Seattle, and you're vegetarian (or even Vegan), then you're in luck! Seattle is a wonderful place for anyone who chooses this lifestyle. There are amazing vegetarian food choices all over the places, and a few of them are famous around here. I'll post again in a while with a list, but I just wanted to mention, if you need someone to show you where some of these are, I'm your man! My absolute favorite, unfortunately, isn't downtown... it's about 10-20 minutes north of downtown, in the university district. But OH is it worth it! Araya's Vegan Thai is wonderful, and it's got the best $7 lunch buffet you'll ever try. If anyone's interested, please respond! It could just be an interesting way to meet fellow vegetarians, yeah?

The U district has a few good places. Bamboo Garden (Chinese) is one of those places that serves "meat" dishes...that actually have no meat. I've taken people there and they've not realized there was no meat until I told them, because the menu still says "Pork Fried Rice" or whatever.

Is there any vegetarian/vegan downtown? If so, I'd like to know.

There's a little place in the international district, there's the Gyro place in pioneer (not a vegetarian place, but really good falaffel sandwhiches, and a couple other vegetarian dishes). Capitol hill's got a bunch too, though that's also a drive away from where the convention is. I think I'm gonna have to look up a list, there's bound to be one. Also, I'll probably eat at Araya's at some point before the con, and they've got a list, too.

Um bamboo garden is awesome indeed, however it is at the bottom of Queen Anne near the Seattle Center and not the U-District. Another great vegie place is Silent Heart Nest (or as the kids always call it, Silent Fart Fest) they used to be in the U-District but are now in Freemont. The real question though is are their any located in walking distance from the Convention Center. And whille I know their are a lot of great places to eat downtown, that also have vegie dishes, I can't think of any all vegie places downtown. I haven't been there in like forever but The Globe used to be a great Vegie place (especialy for breakfast) on Capitol Hill (which is very close to the Convention Center), though I am not sure of whether they are still there or not.

Araya's is basically sex on a plate. Highly, highly recommended for anyone who appreciates Thai.

I'd be down for some real vegetarian food. Closest thing I see to a vegetarian restaurant in Arkansas is the salad bar at the Sizzler.

Cool. Since the person I'm going with is a confirmed carnivore (I mean it, seriously does not like vegetables), I could definitely use the dining company, and appreciate the direction to local vegetarian eateries. Hopefully as we get closer to the con we can make more concrete plans.

On Pike Street, one block to the east, is CyberDogs. They serve really great vegetarian and vegan hotdogs. The service is a little slow and it's a small place, but they're open late and are very friendly. They also have some computers and internet access.
Further up Capitol Hill to the east, past the freeway overpass on Pike and Boylston, is Honeyhole Sandwiches. The best vegetarian sandwiches in the city. Try the El Guapo - roma tomatoes, onions, green peppers, gouda and cheddar toasted on a french roll. Their bar opens at 5pm and they have really good specials.

A little to the south in an area called Georgetown (for those not from Seattle) is a bar called The Georgetown Liquor Company and its entire menu is vegetarian. All sandwiches are geek named and they have old school video games galore. The Sleestak sandwich is my current fav. http://www.georgetownliquorcompany.com/index.html

wow that place sounds awesome too bad its very far away unless you have readily access to a car :(.

I found an awesome vegan pizza place the other day called Julianos. It is a few blocks away from the convention center. Very good prices and they sell by the slice. You can also add organic supplements to your pizza. http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/GetOut?restaurant=170384

    There open til 3am Thur-Sat

My favorite things about PAX 2006 -
    1. PAX 2006
    2. Amazing vegetarian food

I really enjoyed Vegetarian Bistro (China Town) and Bamboo Garden (Seattle Center)...
Vegetarian Bistro was a bit of an adventure, while Bamboo Garden was just all around tasty.

Some of us should definately meet up, then. Erm, it's a bit embarrassing, but some of you may recognize me as an omeganaut from 2005 - I was the guy that got almost no points during the karaoke round. er... so, if you dig up a picture of that, you'll find out what I generally look like. Er, just don't use the pax 05 video, please - those bastards did a number on me.
