Hey there guys. I have recently accumulated quite the pile of embarassing screen shots I'd rather not leave on my hard drive since as much as I'd hate to say it, my cousins are jerks and go snooping so I need to have this media with me or at least, hidden really well. For long term/mass storage, I will just burn a DvD but for everyday smaller files, I'm looking for perhaps what would be best described as a rugged Flash drive... I'm looking for one I can add to my key chain and will be resistant to damage. 2 gigs should be fairly enough space and I have been eying this flash drive for a while... Do any of you guys have one of these and can give me your opinion? Thanks.
Also: is there any easy way to have a folder locked down so that it requires a password to open? I could have sworn there was a program or something from Microsoft that did something like that but I cannot seem to find it. I mean just for one folder, and not an entire flash drive though.
I forget the brand of the flash drive, but my old one came with an encryption program. If I remember it, I'll post it here. You may want to try browsing sourceforge for some kind of encryption program as well. Give me a little bit of time to go searching.
I keep various personal data on a Cruzer Micro 1.0GB, mostly because it's small enough to keep on my key chain and has a retractable port.
You can set it up so that when you plug it in, nothing on it is accessible until you enter a password. That's not the same as encryption, though - to my knowledge nothing on the drive is encrypted, and it's U3, so that might turn you off. You could always disable U3 altogether and use TrueCrypt or something similar, though.

I'd say use TrueCrypt. It's a little more of pain to unlock the files, but it's very secure. What it does is puts the files in a folder, and you use the program to mount the file as a virtual drive. There are features for 'plausible deniability case an adversary has you under duress'. So yeah, it'll be good.

edit: will this work?
