Madden... rings... Jostens... I just... I... uh...

So. EA has made a deal with Jostens to produce a series of Madden inspired rings. Basically, when you unlock one of a select number of achievements, you're given a code to take to Jostens' website, and that will allow you to view the Madden collection of rings. You can then purchase your ring for $149 for the cheap version, or $495 for a 10K gold version.

I just... I don't even know what to say about this, but I know you will...

Microtransactions taken to a new level?

Wait, what's to stop people from buying the rings right away? Do you HAVE to get one of the codes?

EA really, really has to lose its NFL license. I mean gamers might be smart enough to avoid Madden like the plague, but the morons who buy a console just so they can play and buy madden over and over again will not.

Wow. Jostens, EA and Madden all together... I guess there are people out there who will buy into this. Like hardcore football fans who might want these kind of rings. Or those who want real life bragging rights for a price.

To each his own. I think this is a ludicrous idea, but hey, I'm sure they'll make quite a bit from devoted Madden fans.

Hey, this is Jostens - a company known for convincing high school and college students to spend money on rings they'll later look at and facepalm themselves over purchasing.

Why...why would you show off a 200 dollar ring you won by beating a football game?

    WHY?!

I fail to see how anyone would purchase this, but I think as long as stupid people continue to spend money in stupid ways, companies should be able to profit off of them.

Tri implies three things, you could have easily of thrown in rehashing. They are seperate and not seperate at the same time, I think, its crazy stuff.

He's referring to Jostens, EA, and Madden as the trinity. Not that the rehashing doesn't apply...

I think it's kind of a neat idea. I like little gimmicks like that where they give you something for beating a game. A big fucking expensive football ring...ok maybe that is pushing it. If it was you know, a free hat or a T shirt that I could understand.

I have no doubt in my mind many people will buy these though, This is all the proof I need people will buy anything.

OK, my first reaction is that anyone that buys a $500 Madden Bowl ring is a jackass.

Then I think about the number of people who would pay that for a well done replica of the Master Sword or the Gravity Gun. I think its OG-nerds mocking jock-nerds for being pretend-a-nerds.

I wouldn't pay more than 50 bucks for a replica of the Master Sword. Paying more than a game for something that I won't really use just seems wrong to me.

Geez, you'd think the people that need this type of validation for their existence would just go to the trophy shop and spend that money on a 6 foot trophy declaring them "Supreme Champion Greatest Guy Ever #1 Hero!".

I'd think that trophy sitting in your living room would make you fell better about yourself than some dumb ring.
