I hope this is the right place and doesn't seem too rambling, but with some news today, I thought the idea of talking about the shows that are or might be coming back, in addition to shows we want to come back could end up being a rather interesting (or completely redundant OMG Firefly, OMG Arrested Development, OMG Sanford and Son) conversation.
Anyway, it seemed like up to a few years ago, it was a really rare occurance that killed tv shows would get a second chance somewhere else with new episodes. For every Baywatch (blech), or Jag, or B5 you got a dozen Lone Gunmen, or Wonderfalls. Shows were just dead when the network said so.
It seems like that's changing a bit though. Networks seem to be looking around at older shows and listening to fans more and more, and have, looking back, started bringing back series like Family Guy, Home Movies more and more, sometimes on completely different networks. Then we have shows like the new Dead Like Me movie (sans Mandy Patankin
and with a new actress for Daisy) which is essentially a pilot for a new tv series should it sell well enough, which is similar to what Sci Fi is now doing with the new Farscape "webisode series", using it to judge interest in the return of the show as well. You also have the campaign that brought Jericho back from the dead as well.
Stupid work, this came out a lot more rambling than it was meant to, but you get the point. Any shows you're looking forward to the revival of? Any speculation on what Sci Fi is going to do with the new Farscape episodes? Is this topic destined to be shot down? Well, I thought I would give it a try anyway.

For shows that should come back, I'll give my vote to Crusade, the criminally axed spinoff of Babylon 5. It had a very interesting premise, the Excalibur was one of the best 'main ship' designs ever, and there were already some neat things going on in the first 13 episodes, like the prospect of digging into the murky truth behind the Technomages. If anyone ever wanted to dust off the old B5 universe, they'd be best off just renewing Crusade.

Well there is the whole "Lost Tales" B5 movie coming out at the end of this month. It's not continuing Crusade, but it would be nice if they eluded to the story somehow. Even just sorta hint at how it ended or something.
As for Farscape, it was announced yesterday that Sci Fi commissioned 10 web episodes of Farscape. Nothing much was said in the article, no real indication of who would be coming back, but it was hinted in the article if these episodes do well enough, that it could bring the series back to tv.
December is what I heard.

Also American Dad is very bad.
Also, the new Family Guy and American Dad are pretty good. Not 100% hilarious but there are great moments that make it worth watching.
For those of you who might have seen it but don't remember, ReBoot was a completely CGI kid's show (the very first all CGI show) that came out around '94/'95 and featured 'sprites' -- Bob the Guardian, Dot Matrix, her brother Enzo Matrix, Phong -- and viruses, Megabyte and Hexadecimal, inside a computer-city called Mainframe and whenever the User loaded a Game, this big purple cube would descend from the sky and trap anyone caught in its area in the game world. The characters would then have to defeat the User to avoid nullification/deletion. Computer-related puns abound. Season 1 was very episodic and kiddie, then it got really dark and awesome at the end of season 2, and season 3 kicked ass and featured Enzo and his girlfriend AndrAIa all grown up and badass.
Unfortunately, the series ended in a brutal cliffhanger (Megabyte has taken control of the Principle Office! The entire system is in danger! What will the heroes do!? Apparently nothing-- fuck you, Cartoon Network). But now there are a bunch of fans called the ReBoot Revival and they're trying to drum up renewed interest in the show in the hopes that the series can be finished off. A book just came out, The Art of ReBoot, and AFAIK it's had pretty good sales which should help out the movement.
So.. yeah, I ReBoot and want the series back. If any of you are interested in signing up for the revival you can check it out at rebootrevival.com
Do... Re... Mi... So... Fa.... Do... Re.... Do...
Forget it...
I have the entire series on my computer (TV Quality season 1-2, DVD quality season 3-4). I know a lot of people think it's dumb but man I still love the show, stiff animations and corny computer jokes and all.
Do... Re... Mi... So... Fa.... Do... Re.... Do...

Fuck that show in the ear.

Man just you wait, Sam Beckett is gonna leap into your body and Ziggy will show a 87.23% chance that you will have to get fucked in the ear....well Sam will have to take it but everybody will think its you. Yeah yeah thats the ticket!
How dare you discuss such tripe when someone just reminded us that the Tick needs to come back!
Edit: And whatever, my cat will eliminate Ziggy, and then exorcise Sam. And then she will bring back the Tick.
The world needs more Batmanuel.

American Dad is better than Family Guy. The fact that my opinion is different to yours also demonstrates that I am better than you. :P
If there's one thing that shows like Carnivale, Dead Like Me, Huff, and Mind of a Married Man have taught me is this. Fuck those cable channel tv shows. They'll occasionally let a good one through, but most of the time you're fucked once you hit season 2.
yeah, same.
It was just WAY to fucking expensive to film, even for HBO.
They need to stop doing that.

What made Carnivale expensive to film?
I mean, Rome is a period piece, so it's obvious.
They didn't even green light season 2 until after season 1 was over

Agreed. I wanted that 1 more season they had planned.
At least the ending we got was awesome though.
They left plenty to the imagination, but some things needed more time. Wesley's death made perfect sense though. And Lyndsey's demise was fucking golden. Lorne, seriously, fucking Lorne?

The irony is that ratings were up towards the end but not enough to justify the cost.

Honestly that was my favorite part. Everybody underestimated Lorne but he was like Wesley in a way, he wasn't one of those who consider himself "good". It was absolutely awesome.
Is it wrong that I'm eagerly awaiting buying it on DVD so that upon friends reaching the end of season 1 and asking me to put season 2 in I can exlaim- "I can't! Remember when I told you to watch it and you didn't because you could only dedicate yourself to watching one network show a week and swore up and down that Lost was going to be awesome and then when that didn't pan out that it would eventually be awesome again? That's right. That emptiness you're feeling right now? That horrendous let down? That hole in your heart? Welcome to my world."
...
Actually, yes. Yes that is wrong. I am a bad and bitter person. In my defense though- Network execs are assholes. :P
I'm glad SG-1 is getting 2 movies, and Samantha Carter is moving to Atlantis.
I'd really like another Farscape movie.
I'd really like Studio 60, Invasion, Firefly, and (wait for it) Star Trek Enterprise to come back.
Now, hear me out on Enterprise. It was only when they realized the show was going to be cancelled that it started to get good. The 5th season of Enterprise when they finally went out and got other people to write storylines were kickass. Then that series finale. They went back to the original writers, and it totally was a shitfest. I will now convince myself that it doesn't exist and never existed.
I invite you along in my crusade to make others miserable for not watching it while it aired.

Join me.

I, for some reason, want to join you in your crusade.
People who did not watch Studio 60 when it was airing SUCK. I have never seen an episode of West Wing, or Sports Night, but I loved the dialogue on Studio 60. I think if Studio 60 didn't work, then I really need to go watch those other two shows.
But yes, crusade on, we must!
Man, I watched the entire goddamn series like two or three months ago.
Was it holyfuckawesome? No.
Was it just as good as most entertaining cartoons, and had some really goddamn awesome moments? Yes. Yes it was. And that's more than enough.
Also, fuck cliffhangers.
