So what is this bullshit? Windows Vista Home Basic will allow you to use Sound Recorder to record WAV files, but the superior Windows Vista Home Premium will only allow you to save as WMAs. Lame.
But I need to record some WAV files for a project, and I have Home Premium. A quick Google search gives up a laundry list of applications that should record sound as a WAV, but I have no way of knowing which, if any, contain nasty spyware. Does anyone here have any recommendations for utilities I can use? It doesn't need to be fancy - I'm recording 4 clips of less than 15 seconds apiece.
To be honest it's probably overkill, as it's a rather well-featured audio program, but it'll definitely record, and record well. I've used it for years for the occasional project that comes up, and it's served me well, without any issues. I'd highly recommend it, even if you just uninstall it afterwards (though I'd suggest keeping it).
