Xbox Live - Brought Girls Into Our Lives

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox

I know that this thread has been done to death but now it's gotten personal. I just went down to my local Gamestop on the way home from work to check out there Buy 2 Get One Free Xbox game sale and there was nothing left. I asked the girl behind the counter and she confirmed that they shipped the last of there games back to corporate for online sales. She did mention that they we're the first store to get them out but more and more are sure to follow.

I'm going to say a bad word here and please excuse me but I'm a Nintendo Fan Boy. But I really can't say enough good things about this system. When it came to cross platform gaming I always picked up an Xbox game over the other two. Mostly due to my impression of the graphics and most importantly Xbox Live. Xbox and Xbox Live kept me going through some tough times in college and even tougher times today as a father.

I first picked up the Xbox when they dropped the price to $199. I went down to my local Costco and they had a bundle pack with the system, an extra controller, DVD remote, and Halo for $279. I hadn't known too much about the system then but I do remember reading about this new feature called Xbox Live. So a couple months later I went to my local Gamestop I had an extra $50 in my hand and nothing to do. So I asked the guy, what should I get Star Wars Galaxy or Xbox Live? He said you should get Star Wars Galaxy, for sure, because that is going to be the greatest game of all time. So I purchased Xbox Live right there and then. I even talked the wife into DSL back then and paid a premium of $39.95 a month for it too.

Well with at least 80+ games in the library and countless years of my life as h8b1llg8ts I want to say I'll miss you Xbox. May you rest in peace.

Yeah I gave it a chance at the end of its life then sold it to help finance the 360. It was definitely worth my time I feel bad that I had stereotyped it because of my Bill Gates hatred.

Poor XBox I wish I had knew thee earlier.

The duke was strangely awesome. I really preferred the S (apart from the black and white buttons), but the duke had this awesome aura to it that meant whenever I'd have a 4 player session with friends I'd always grab it and be all "FUCK YEAH! DUKE!"

I just recently got the Xbox version of Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, I had the PS2 version for ages.

My God that game looks incredible for an Xbox game. I swear it does things that are impossible on the Xbox.

also, Panzer Dragoon Orta = <3

I can't imagine what they were thinking with the Duke, that thing was a monster. The only guy I know that prefers it has enormous hands.

I picked up an XBox when the green Halo version came out. I don't know that it was worth it, I never got that many games. So few solid exclusives that weren't on the PC. I've enjoyed the 360 a lot more, especially with XBLA.

Halo and Halo 2... so many hours down the drain. And it was so worth it. Xbox also brought me the PGR series, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Morrowing, KOTOR, and the best versions (much of the time) of last-gen's multiplatform games, like Prince of Persia and GTA. Fable, Ninja Gaiden, Jade Empire, I could go on all day. It was a pretty awesome console.

Also the S was easily the best controller of last gen.

Agreed. XBOX S controller was just right (topped only by the 360's controller now).

I also always preferred getting the Xbox version for multiplatform games. I didnt utilize Live all that much - the most I played was Rainbow Six 3, but it was nice to have. Hell, I barely play games online with the 360 that much. Guess I prefer online gaming with the PC or something...

I just dont like small controllers. The gamecube controller hurts my hand if I play too long, likewise the Wii nunchuck is too small for my hand.

And man don't even get me started on the sixaxis.

I remember the XB controller reminding me a lot of the Dreamcast's, which is only a good thing.

Of all games, I bought mine for Doom 3's LE, JSRF, and Panzer Dragoon. I've only got 10 or 11 games for it, but JSRF and Panzer alone assure it's not going anywhere.

Well, that and SVC Chaos, Phantom Dust, the Fatal Frames, etc.

The thing that sucks for collectors is that the abrupt halt to manufacturing before the 360 even came out means the thing never really got dirt-cheap. Honestly, I can't think of a console that cost so much at the end of its life than the Xbox.

    Well, maybe the Neo Geo.

Xbox = Dreamcast. They both died before their time IMO. It might be just me but it feels like the 'next gen' (360 more so comming out before the others) came a year or 2 too early.

I mean I know its a port but look at Ninja Gaiden. The xbox version still looks dang good even compared to the PS3 edition.

Ah sweet Xbox. I bought my first one when Morrowind launched, and me and my roommate at the time spent countless hours on it. I would play during the day (lol unemployment), and he would play at night. We easily put 200 hours each into it over a few months. It was only when I moved out on my own that fall that I began to appreciate what the Xbox had to offer.

It all started with a PGR demo. I normally didn't like realistic racers (basically anything where you had to brake going into the corners), but once I figured out how PGR works, I was sold. I then moved on to Rallisport and Forza, and have loved Microsoft Game Studios ever since.

At my peak, I owned around 60 xbox games, including Steel Battalion (holy hell did I suck at that game). Now, since I've got a 360 and since I had to move (and hence had to clear out stuff) I sold my old Xbox (actually the Halo edition that I purchased drunk) and most of the games. I've got a select few BC games, plus some that aren't yet but are too damn good for me to get rid of, even if I can't play them (Voodoo Vince, Beyond Good and Evil, PGR 2).

Some of my favourite games: Psychonauts, KotOR, Voodoo Vince, PGR 2, Rallisport 2, Crimson Skies (SEQUEL DAMMIT!), and Morrowind.

I think my best time with the Xbox was spent with Midtown Madness 3. Me and some buddies would just use it as a chat room, driving around in Cruise Mode. We'd find glitches, or get in demolition derbies with buses, or just generally fuck around for hours on end. Such good times.

I got an Xbox late, but it gave me some great times.

    - Best looking PoP trilogy of last generation with triggers that just felt better for executing time rewinds.
    - Knights of the Old Republic
    - Jade Empire
    - Fable
    - Drunken Halo 2 multiplayer
    - And my guilty pleasure, Grabbed by the Ghoulies. Underappreciated. Greatly underappreciated. Because it was a Nintendo game that got released on the Xbox. And I loved it. So simple, but so fun. And it should be cheap to pick up used now. And it's finally back-compatible on the 360.

My brother bought our xBox, I cursed at him, called him a heathen, told him to take the Halo 2 and stick it up his pooper.

But it ended up saving me from giving up gaming all together. Live added competition to all the games at any time I wanted, it could be 2 am and my friends/siblings would be asleep, I couldn't sleep, no one to play with... Jump on live and play with people you don't even know.

I know it's been done, PC and all, but this just felt different and ended up being more fun. And now after having read the books, Halo is one of my favorite franchises.

The Xbox is by far my favourite single console ever, and I have racked up more hours playing on it than I have sleeping the past five years.

    Highlights:
    16 player speed-fuelled Halo sessions
    4 player Doom co-op
    JSRF. All of it.
    Amped with Custom Soundtracks
    Forza
    Fable (shut up)

Oh the Xbox, I got it late but enjoyed the hell out of it and still do since I don't have a 360 yet.

Since I didn't own an Xbox at the time I never bothered reading any of the hype on Fable so I enjoyed it a lot. JSRF! Also can't forget Psychonauts (are you the milkman?). I still have yet to dive into Jade Empire since I have other games I still haven't beaten yet ahead of it on the list. Also, believe it or not, playing Links with my friend was some good fun.

I still need to try to locate Stubbs the Zombie as it looks like a very funny game, anyone who owns this wish to comment? I hear it's short but that works for me since I don't have much time for gaming these days.

HEY! Pay some respects to the console where Oddworld laid itself down to rest.

Munch's Oddysey was highly underrated IMO. That was a great game, at least I loved it. To bits. Over and over again into the night.

And Oddworld Stranger's Wrath gets my nod for most creative shooter ever. That game killed me. Past tense since my Xbox is on the fritz and that damn game is STILL not BC. I want my fuzzy shooters back!!! I got stuck early in that game, set it aside for some other game and then it died.

It comes back every now and then, I think the DVD drive is busted. I hope so, I have Karaoke Revolution Party with the full download pack on that hard drive (INSANE number of songs). And Karaaoke Revolution is my wife's favorite party game. I am hoping to smoothly replace it with Rock Band so she won't force me to sing half of "under pressure" anymore. I love that song too much to abuse it like I do.

And don't forget my favorite 'card' game on any console, Phantom Dust. It is what Magic: Battlegrounds WANTED to be. I would love to see a sequel to Magic Battlegrounds if and only if they take a lesson from PD. MORE cards, MORE variety, Better arenas that you can blow up. DAMNIT now I want that game. Think of a properly done Shivan Dragon card, swooping down to flame your ass when you block at the last minute by summoning a Lord of the Pit out of the ground at your feet. Man, that could be so neat, hordes of goblins and orcs (for balance, the weenies would summon 5 per 'spell' or something). Would require some great creature AI.

Okay, obviously I can't stay on track. Let me just say ODDWORLD RULES. Please please please team up with dreamworks and make a movie, I love that universe and that humor.
