Of Man and Machine Guns (WEAPONRY THREAD)

Hola.

The next generation of weaponry is something I've always enjoyed looking up and reading about. The science and physics that go into this shit is lost on me, but I'm always entertained by just how much more destructive weaponry gets year to year.

Let's face it, while peace is wonderful, War will always exist.

With that said, we'll go ahead and take a look at the *ahem* weapons of liberation used across the world!

MISSILES:

First up is the Patriot Missile Air Defense System.

The Patriot is a long range, all altitude, all weather air defense system. It's used for smacking any incoming missiles out of the air that are aimed at the United States. Thankfully the shit has never been used in a real life combat situation on our soil yet.

ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles)

Ah. Good ol' mutually assured destruction! Used mainly in conjunction with a nuclear payload, ICBMs are a pretty simple story. Nuke is fired, and a radioactive holocaust awaits. (That is, unless you kill their ghost first. :D)

Here's a video of an Atlas ICBM accidentally going ka-pow!

GUNS:

Automatic Shotgun!

SPAS 15:

A sweet dual mode 12 gauge shotty, based on the SPAS 12 with pump and semi-auto firing modes. Take a gander.

M60:

The M60 (formally the United States Machine Gun, Caliber 7.62 mm, M60) is a family of American general purpose long range machine guns firing 7.62 mm NATO cartridges from a disintegrating belt of M13 links.

Introduced in 1957, it remains in use in every branch of the U.S. military and other armed forces. Its manufacture and continued upgrade for military and commercial purchase continues into the 21st century though it has slowly been replaced or supplemented in many roles by newer designs.

Mmm....M60!

IMI Tavor TAR-21:

The TAR-21 is a modern Israeli assault rifle chambered for 5.56 mm NATO ammunition. The name "TAR-21" stands for "Tavor Assault Rifle - 21st Century". The TAR-21 advanced model Tavor 2 was selected as the future assault rifle of the Israel Defense Forces and within the next few years it will become the standard infantry weapon.

You knew you were gonna see this bald fucker sooner or later!

Alright. Post any cool weapons of the present, past or future here. Armor or explosive shit is cool too.

Edit: None of those goddamn videos set to fucking 3 Doors Down with actual people getting shot.

OK, just to be sure, I've heard controversy over whether or not AK47 is a blatant ripoff of the MP44. Was this ever settled?

    To clarify,

Like, types and brands? Or the inner workings?

I know the basic parts and mechanisms in different guns as well as types of ammunition, after studying forensic science in school for a while.

To clarify, I've fired guns before, just never had one of my own and never really learned proper techniques and worked on aim.

    no.

    no no no.

First you learn to handle and operate.

Then and only then do you even begin to consider purchasing. You know all those idiotic stories of people shooting themselves, or some kid got a gun and it went off or blah blah blah. A common trend is that the owner either

    a. didn't understand a damn thing about responsible ownership

    or

    b. didn't know how to properly operate and store the weapon.

learn first. go to a range, take a class or two. spend some time with shooters.

Kurt Russells son killed himself with his fathers gun by mistake. In Stargate.

He was never the same again.

Now I can not get any sleep today, cause I have to watch Stargate again. Right after Blade Runner. And some Futurama.

Tomorrow is going to be a blur.
