I had trouble getting rooms too. The people on the phone do not know a lot. I suggest going there in person and reserve your room. If you want I could walk over to the red lion on monday and find out how many PAX rate rooms are left.

I would be very appreciative of that.
Here's the deal. I live in WA, but I live in Everett. A 35 minute drive north at 3am, only to come back by 10am is not really going to go very well. However, I don't really want to burden anyone with us, because I have 3 people with me (2 male, 1 female).
As much as I am up for a fun crowded party, I am pretty sure the other two want it a little less cramped...

I was talking about going into the "need a room" threads, sorry to confuse.
Thanks Robert. Hopefully the Red Lion still has rooms, because that is where I would ideally want to stay. I wouldn't mind the Crowne Plaza either, but both seem to be full.
Nah it's not too far... the walk is about 4 blocks north, then about 5 blocks east... probably 15 minute leisure walk depending on traffic signals. You could make it in 10 if you were doin a slight jog & jaywalking.
I think the price of The W is what is keeping the average pax attendee away.
So heres what I found out. The red lion PAX block is FULL. They had 450ish rooms and there all booked as of today. However they told me there are still rooms available for the 24th and 25th outside of the block. Unfortunately all the 23rd rooms are full for the entire hotel. They said theres a chance you can get the PAX rate for the rooms still available on the 24th and 25th. If your interested you can call directly: 206-971-8000 monday-friday 8-5pm PST
Crowne Plaza they said to call back in the morning there reservation person was gone.
Another hotel option could be Pike Street Suites they told me to call back during the day from 10-4pm for reservations. The number there is 206-682-8282. This hotel is literally connected to the Convention center. Equal distance as the sheraton.
I want something as close as possible for just Friday and Saturday night. I guess that's the 24th and 25th, so I'm still not out for Red Lion. Unfortunately their regular rates are teh suck.
I know I called Days Inn like 50 times, both their American-free reservations number and the hotel directly. They've told me every time there's nothing available at the PAX rate. I'll definitely be giving Crowne Plaza and Red Lion tomorrow. I'd like to stay somewhere there are fellow PAXers.
At the moment my roommates and I are staying at the Sixth Avenue Inn. If anyone else is having trouble finding a room, I'd say give them a shot. Looks like a nice place, it's about half a mile from the convention center. The best part is you have up until 24 hours before you get there to cancel your reservation without losing any money, so at least you'd be guaranteed a place if you can't turn up anywhere closer.
I've got two hotels coming online. Should be able to accept reservations as early as tomorrow afternoon.
First is the Paramount, other one is Mayflower. They're both close: one is less than a block, the other is a couple blocks.
I'm also checking into the Pike Suites. Please hold off until after I get them set up. I should be able to get y'all a discount, and we'll be able to track the hotel rooms you guys are booking--which means we'll be able to get bigger, and cheaper, blocks next year.
Mike, did you ever try the Hilton? I ended up making reservations there because it is close (same distance as the Red Lion). It's also got an underground route to the Convention Center apparently. I'd love to call them back and ask for a PAX rate
i will have to investigate this underground route. The only secret route I know is crossing the street go inside the Union building and into the convention center, which isnt that secret.

Well don't take my word for it, this is only what I was told. It would be great if true.
Had a decent rate but its a bit further than the rest of the hotels... but saying that its right next to the needle thingy in Seattle. $89/night... but that was through a website. I forget which as I did it on my notebook at work. It seemed they had plenty of rooms but again its 1.5miles from the event which may be far but cheap.

But man if you got a killer deal at the W, nice work.
LIES!
All three of the not-crossed-out hotels listed on the PAX website are full (at least for PAX rate). I was really hoping to get a spot at the Red Lion
I would be very appreciative of that.
