I don't really know why it would corrupt your ipod's hard drive (as said in the 2nd link), but I just yesterday pulled them off by browsing through the hidden folders... which basically consists of making sure the ipod is set in whatever mode that is that allows use as a usb/etc hard drive as well, then opening it in explorer, going to the first hidden folder in the top level directory (the name totally escapes me now and my ipod's down in my car), and then either hunting (slow and boring) through a complicated mess, or just hitting the search button and searching either for all files, or all files that match *.mp3 (or *.aac or whatever), then copy/pasting.

I guess maybe cut/paste might mess up the ipod? I have no idea, but the copy/pasting seemed to work fine, and my ipod's still functioning
