[HELP!] [NEED A RIDE TO PAX]

Hi, this is ghrog. I'm in need of some help!

You see my life partner, Dr. Deezee, is in need of a ride from the Salt Lake City, UT area to PAX.

He was going to be a PC tournament admin for HL2DM and CS:S but he and his friend need a ride! He doesn't have enough money to get himself and his friend to Seattle, a friend whom he doesn't want to leave behind in scary SLC, UT.

He would drive him and his friend up, but he doesn't have a car!

This is where the good people of PA come in: GET DZ to PAX. We need DZ at PAX to help run tournaments good! Give me a PM or post here and hopefully something can be worked out.

    Okay, here's the least complicated way:

    Get on the Amtrak California Zephyr in SLC exactly one minute before midnight on the 21st. That'll drop you in Sacramento at 6:00 PM on the 22nd. Bum around Sacramento with the local Supertrippers, grab some dinner, then board the northbound Coast Starlight (West Coast Train Trip) with them a minute before midnight. Proceed to get your drink and gamin' on all the way to Seattle. Return trip is the exact opposite, and gets you back in SLC at 4:00 A.M. on the 29th.

    Total cost is $286.

    ======================

    Option 2, which is far more efficient, but far less fun, is to buy tickets on Southwest Airlines. Total fare is $278.80 + fees, and the flight is about two hours.

    heh.

    OP says he doesn't have enough money to get himself and his friend up here. I assume that means plane (and equally priced train) tickets are out. How about Greyhound? That can't be more than $60 a head or so.

    If you don't have a job then collect bottles and cans. You've got more than 30 days. If you collect 200 bottles and cans a day (on average) you're all set. Seriously, you've got PLENTY of time to earn enough money to get to PAX if you really want to go. Now I can see that if someone has extra room in their car coming up from UT, then that's great, but you should also be at least attempting to earn the money to go.

    Greyhound is $120/person if you purchase at least 14 days in advance. After that, it rises very, very steeply.

    Well, some people can't afford to take a week off from work AND pay $500 for theirselves and a friend just to show up at PAX to run some tournaments in an uncompensated fashion (never mind that we may get an hour or so off to actually go see some parts of the event). Nice straw man though.

    LOOK INTO THE COMPANION RATE Greyhound sometimes runs a companion rate of half-off for the second person going.

    It would be about the same when driving, this would be the cheapest method so just tell DZ to man up and get on the bus. While on the bus tell him to take a huge dose of nyquil so he wakes up at pax :P

    nah, driving is only ~12-15 hours depending on how fast you go. I don't think DZ will ever MAN UP.

    I'm going to be driving up to Seattle from San Jose, California and will be passing through Sacramento on the night of the 22nd (probably around 9-10PM). If you can afford train tickets to get as far as Sacramento, I can pick you up there and drive you up to PAX for free(if someone has a drivers license we can take turns driving). The thing is, I won't be going straight back home after PAX, so I won't be able to drive you back at all.
